CREATIVE KIDS SUMMER OPEN ARTS STUDIO AT CLEAR LAKE ARTS CENTER When: Friday, June 2 from 10:00 AM 1:15 PM $8 K 6 grades (grade just completed) We will be leaving Garner at 10:00 to travel to the Clear Lake Arts Center where our artists will explore and work on an art project. Bring a sack lunch as we will be having a picnic and playing at the park afterwards. We will return to the Hancock County Extension Office at 1:15. Meet at the. Friday, May 26. Using everyday items in your kitchen you can watch milk move in mysterious ways, watch a geyser come to life, make your own gum drops and much more. Friday, May 26. Space is limited to 25. DRONE WORKSHOP When: Wednesday, June 7 from 1:00 3:30 PM $5 2 12 grades (grade just completed) Learn all about drones, how and what they are used for. GARNER SUMMER ARTS PROGRAM When: K 2 grades: Monday, June 12 thru Friday, June 16 from 1:00 2:00 PM 3 5 grades: Monday, June 12 thru Friday, June 16 from 3:00 5:00 PM $10 K 2 & 3 5 grades (grade just completed) We are partnering with Clear Lake Arts Center to bring you the Garner Summer Arts Program. This 5 day program will teach historical artistic techniques from famous artists, such as Picasso and Matisse, and more. Children will have the opportunity to express their creativity in individual projects as well as collaborative. Artists will be showcasing their work with a Meet the Artist Reception! Friday, June 2. Space is limited to 25 each session. JOHN DEERE FACTORY & SUMMIT FARMS TOUR When: Tuesday, June 13 from 7:30 AM 5:30 PM $10 Age 13 and up on date of trip See how John Deere Tractor cabs are assembled, visit the John Deere Tractor and Engine Museum, and visit Summit Farms. John Deere Tractor cab assembly, Waterloo & Summit Farms, Alden Friday, June 2. Space is limited to 20. Bring your own lunch and John Deere store spending money if desired. 3 CATTLE CLINIC When: Sunday, June 18 2:00 5:00 PM 4 12 grades (grade just completed) Come learn from our 4-H cattle showing alumni. The clinic will cover daily hair care, show day fitting, showmanship tips, and more. Winnebago County Fairgrounds, Thompson Friday, June 9 CULTURAL TASTEBUDS When: Tuesday, June 20 9:00 AM 1:00 PM 2 12 grades (grade just completed) Come make Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus punch), espagueti verde (green spaghetti), Pozole (pork and hominy stew), and Copa de fruita (fruit cup) and learn about the history and culture behind these traditional Hispanic dishes. Participants will prepare the three Hispanic dishes and then eat and serve them to parents for lunch at the end of our time together. UPCYCLED RUG When: Wednesday, June 21 from 1:00 3:00 PM 3 12 grades (grade just completed) Come make a 18X30 no sew rug made from bath towels to jazz up any room. $5, and bring 3 full size bath towels of any color/ colors washed and dried Friday, June 9. Space is limited to 15. EXPOSING THE LIGHT WITHIN: PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP When: Wednesday, June 22 from 8:30 AM 5:00 PM 6 12 grades (grade just completed) Be prepared to delve deep into understanding exposure and lighting during this workshop. Participants will step inside a camera and see how light reflects and flips upside down, exploring the law of optics. They will explore exposure through cyanotype, a photographic printing process and discover digital panoramic photography. Come with enthusiasm to get creative! We will be meeting at the Hancock Co. Extension Office at 8:30 and traveling to Water s Edge Nature Center, Algona. We will return to the office at 5:00. $15, includes lunch Friday, June 16. Space is limited to 40 for all counties. Dances will be performed at the Hancock County District Fair on Thursday, July 27. We will be meeting at the at 1:00 and traveling to Summer Jo's Dance Academy in Hampton, returning to the office at 5:00. Friday, June 16. Space is limited to 10 boys and 10 girls. SUESSICAL THE MUSICAL PRODUCTION When: Friday, June 30 from 6:15 8:30 PM $10 K 8 grades (just completed) Enjoy the musical Suessical the Musical performed by students just like you. We will be meeting at the at 6:15 and traveling to Forest City. We will return to the office at 8:30. Friday, June 16. Space is limited to 15. 4

JUNIOR FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CAMP 2 LOCATIONS GARNER & BRITT When: Wednesday, July 5 from 1:00 3:00 PM Britt Municipal Building -or- Thursday, July 6 from 1:00 3:00 PM Pre K 2 grades (grade just completed) Learn what the Jr FLL kids did last season with Critter Craze. Build with LEGO s and learn about Elise the Bee. Friday, June 23. Space is limited to 15. BUCKET BOTTLE CALF/LAMB WORKSHOP 2 SESSIONS OFFERED BEGINNER & ADVANCED When: Tuesday, July 11 from 6:00 8:30, you pick the session or stay for both! 6:00 7:00 PM 101 Session: Learn how to get your animal tagged, both you and your animal ready for the showing, and entered for the fair in FairEntry. 7:30 8:30 PM 102 Session: Learn about proper hair care, exhibiting your animal to the best of its ability, how to show like a pro, and enter for the fair in FairEntry. Anyone Are you new to showing bucket bottle calves/lambs or have you shown in the past, but looking for a few pointers? Need to know how to get signed up for the fair with the new FairEntry system? We encourage you to bring your animal for an evening of knowledge. Hancock County District Fairgrounds, Britt Friday, July 7 SPEAK IT! COMMUNICATION TOUR When: Friday, July 14 from 9:00 AM 1:30 PM 2 12 grades (grade just completed) Tour of North Iowa Broadcasting (home of 98.7 Kiss Country and 103.7 The Fox) and KIMT. Carpool from Garner. Please indicate if a parent would be willing to help drive. $5, includes lunch. Friday, July 7. Space is limited to 20. CENTRAL GARDENS FRESH ON FRIDAYS When: Friday, July 21 from 10:00 AM 1:15 PM K 6 grades (grade just completed) We will be leaving Garner at 10:00 to travel to the Central Gardens @ Clear Lake for Fresh on Fridays where we will be doing an art activity in the garden. Please pack a sack lunch as we will be having a picnic and playing at the park afterwards. We will return at 1:15. Meet at Hancock Co. Ext. Office. MOCK MILITARY DAY When: Wednesday, August 2 from 8:00 AM 4:30 PM A carpool from Garner & Britt may be available. 4 6 grades (grade just completed) Be a solider for a day! Train to be a soldier, eat like a soldier, prepare for responding to emergencies like a soldier. Lead by real military personnel. Pilot Knob @ Forest City $10, includes lunch Friday, July 21. Meet at the Hancock County Extension Office at 12:15, and returning at 3:00. Friday, August 4 ROBOTICS 101 When: Tuesday, August 8, Wednesday, August 9, and Thursday, August 10 from 6:00 7:30 PM $15 3 7 grades (grade just completed) Curious about First Lego League (FLL) and Robotics? Want to know more about coding and programming? Come and check out our camp. You will also have the opportunity to join a club and compete in the fall. Friday, July 28. Space is limited to 15. ISU INSECT ZOO & MAGGOT MASTERPIECE When: Wed., Aug.9 from 1:00 2:45 PM $10 K 6 grades (grade just completed) If you re ready to add a little excitement into your summer, then this is the workshop for you! Get up close and personal exploring insects, spiders, tarantulas, millipedes, scorpions, and much more!! This hands on program will explore the wonderful world of Anthropods. But the fun doesn t end there as we will also be creating a Maggot Masterpiece which will be a hands on insect themed art project! Come join us! Friday, August 4. Space is limited to 20. Already know the basics of EV3 and FLL? Come to this class to learn more about sensors, gears, and the hard programming and coding questions. Friday, August 4. Space is limited to 15. 6

CONCARD CARE 4-H (Service) When: Friday, July 21, 2017 from 3:00 4:00 PM Any 4-Her who would like to show exhibits, skits or small animals to residents. Join us in this community service project by bringing the fair to residents at Concord Care Center.
