The General Session will conclude at 11:30 a.m. The afternoon will allow attendees opportunity to select from many quality breakout sessions. KEYNOTE SPEAKER Monday, September 25, 2017 Randy Sprick Safe & Civil Schools senior author and lead trainer Dr. Randy Sprick is an educational consultant and trainer based in Eugene, Oregon. Each year, he presents practical and entertaining workshops to over 30,000 teachers and administrators throughout the United States and Canada. Randy completed his doctorate degree at the University of Oregon in 1979 and began developing programs that would translate the massive volume of research on effective discipline and behavioral interventions into practical strategies that educators could easily adopt. Randy quickly built his reputation as an expert in proactive classroom management through his dynamic professional development, his consultation with schools, and his writings. Teachers, administrators, and school staff gravitated toward his work when they found they could successfully implement these strategies and change the climate of their schools and classrooms. Randy was one of the first educational leaders in the country to demonstrate and articulate the effectiveness of an instructional model of discipline, with the emphasis on the design of antecedent events and structuring the school and classroom environments for success. As the primary author for the Safe & Civil Schools series, Randy has produced numerous articles, books, and multimedia programs that assist school personnel in dealing with the issues of discipline and classroom management, including CHAMPS, Discipline in the Secondary Classroom, and the Teacher's Encyclopedia of Behavior Management. Most recently, he revised Foundations, in which school administrators and leadership teams are encouraged to systematically follow procedures to improve school climate, discipline, teacher satisfaction, and the level of student engagement across the school. His publications are available through Pacific Northwest Publishing (https://pacificnwpublish.com/categories/products-by-series.../safe-%26-civil-schools/). In 2007, the Council for Exceptional Children honored Randy with the J.E. Wallace Wallin Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition SPECIAL of his work developing, CONFERENCE advocating, and proliferating INFORMATION Positive Behavior Support in schools.
