sychosexual Clinic Many people are apprehensive about attending the clinic, usually because they are unsure of what to expect. This leaflet aims to explain what happens once you have been referred to this service. What happens Referral When we receive a referral either from your G, or Consultant, we will contact you to arrange an appointment for assessment. We hope to see you as soon as possible. Appointment The appointment will take place within the Moorgate Wing, D Level at Rotherham Hospital. On arrival you need to book in at reception. The assessment The assessment takes around 45 minutes, during which time you will be given the opportunity to tell us about your problem area, background issues, and general health. At the end of the assessment, the therapist will discuss with you options for therapy and/or treatment You will be fully involved in the decision of how to proceed. The therapist will then write to your referee to inform them of the outcome. 3

sychosexual Clinic Sexual and relationship therapy is a confidential form of help. Other than communicating with your G or refere, we will not give your name or any information about you to anyone outside this clinic, without your permission. We also work within the Data rotection Act. Supervision In order to provide you with the most skilled help, your therapists have regular supervision of their practice. This ensures that we offer you a high level of safety and quality of care as possible. We want you to feel comfortable about starting your therapy. If you have any objections to having a second co-therapist involved, please let us know as soon as possible. Your appointment may have to be rescheduled. If you have any complaint to make about this service, please discuss them with your therapist. If this is not possible, you can follow the hospital complaints procedure. 4

sychosexual Clinic Some general points l If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible, to allow us to offer that appointment to someone else. l We ask that you are on time for your appointments l We do not have creche facilities, so babies and young children should not be brought along to your appointments l If you are unclear about any aspect of your treatment, please feel free to ask your therapist for further explanations.
