3,000+ active student volunteers each year: more than 150 charities and more than 100,000 volunteering hours each year. Since 1998, 4,800 students have supported 220 schools in the Leeds City Region. Students raise approx. 300k p.a. for local charities.
Ground-breaking new partnership in China Joint school to deliver world-class teaching and research in engineering: Based in Chengdu, China. Building on the award-winning strengths of the University of Leeds in engineering and transport. Opened in September 2016. To recruit 1,200 of the brightest high school students in China over four years. Approx. 5m revenue p.a. to Leeds from joint school. This partnership will cultivate global talent and build strong connections between the UK, China and other parts of the world, addressing future skills requirements and opening up new research opportunities. Our students launched 48 start-up companies last year. 1,200 undergraduates took an enterprise module in 2014/15. 63 student start-up companies have been incubated in the last 4 years. Currently we have 37 student enterprises in the first dedicated student business incubator.
