ROTARY CLUB OF CHAMPAIGN 2017 2018 Committee Responsibilities, Chairs and Members 3/22/18 Definition of Responsibilities and Duties Chairs and Co-Chairs Committee Members Club Council of Presidents: Serves to guide and advise the Club President. Board Liaison: President Walsh Members: All Past Presidents Champaign County Council of Presidents: Comprised of all current Club Presidents in Champaign/Urbana Area; serves to share information and coordinate joint activities. Board Liaison: President Walsh Members: President Walsh, President-Elect Banks Alternate: President-Elect Nominee Ellis- Nominating Committee: Nominates members to serve as board members/club directors. The Club President is chosen by the Board from a group of current or past board members. Chair: Past President Rost Board Liaison: Past President Rost Members: President Walsh, Past President Rost, President-Elect Banks District 6490/Club Awards: Coordinates and submits nominations for the District s Awards Program; and advises the President on Club awards to recognize outstanding participation in the Rotary Club of Champaign and its committees, programs and activities. This includes service pins, attendance recognition and input for other awards as needed. Membership Recruitment: Seeks qualified individuals as prospective members that are service-minded and demonstrate good character, integrity and leadership. Every effort shall be made to maintain a wellbalanced and diversified membership. Encourages members to participate in Rotary leadership training. Proactively contacts less active members and surveys members leaving the Club to understand the reasons. Attendance Recorder: Sandra Calderon Fellowship: Promotes acquaintance and friendship among the members and focuses on arranging members to greet, provide invocations and introduce guests and visiting Rotarians at Club meetings. Program Committee: Seeks member program ideas, and prepares and arranges high quality and diverse programs for the regular and special meetings of the Club. Music Committee: Leads Club singing and provides other musical entertainment and activities at Club meetings. Local Projects & Environmental Protection Committee: Plans and executes at least 2 local hands-on service projects that benefit Champaign/Urbana through partnerships with worthy local charitable organizations. Collaborates with local Rotary Clubs. Manages projects including reviewing and requesting any budget needs; coordinating event planning/execution, recruiting volunteers and reporting back to the Club. Contributing to efforts that improve the appearance and environment to the community, participates in the Adopt-A- Street cleanup four times per year; Boneyard Cleanup and Austin s Day of Service annually. Seeks ways for Club members to support mentoring programs for local youth. Processes the annual Parkland scholarship program, and updates the Parkland plaque. Clark Grants Committee: Seeks small grant proposals from community groups, evaluates proposals to ensure required criteria is met, makes recommendations to the Rotary Board for funding, advises group of funding decision, and presents checks at regular Club meetings. Co-Chairs: Bill Gleason & Jeff Troxell Board Liaison: Jane Walsh Members: Dean Cavey, Jeff Fullilove, Terri Lipscomb Charity Committee: Collects the weekly proceeds from the Rotary Cup; evaluates and recommends appropriate charitable organizations to receive funds to the Rotary Board, and presents checks at Club meetings. Plans and organizes the Club s participation in the annual bell-ringing campaign conducted by the Salvation Army. Co-Chairs: Ashley Dye & Janet Ellis- Members: Pat Kovar Student Recognition/Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Committee: Brings students into contact with Rotary by recognizing students from Central High School, Centennial High School and Judah Christian High School for their achievements in the areas of academics, activities, and athletics. Recruits and recommends local high school students to be RYLA participants and participates in the planning and conducting the RYLA program. Interact Committee: Promotes and sponsors the Interact Club of Centennial High School; provides guidance and counsel in their formation and implementation of club activities and projects; encourages Rotary Club member support for those activities; and assists the Interact Club in presenting a Club program in April. Co-Chairs: Lea Hill & Janet Ellis- Members: Mike McDonnell, Dale Morrissey EarlyAct Committee: Working with Unit 4 school leaders, coordinates elementary school EarlyAct program sponsored by Champaign Rotary Club. Plans and organizes the Yanai student exchange in cooperation with the Campus Honors Program; and arranges for members to accompany International speakers (such as Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars) to and from speaking appearances. Rotary Foundation Committee: Promotes understanding of the Rotary Foundation and its programs, promotes members contributions to The Rotary Foundation annual fund in November and the polio fund in March, and works with the International Hospitality and Ambassadorial Scholars Committee in furnishing information and assistance to applicants. Co-Chairs: Mark Thies Board Liaison: Mark Thies Members: John Calderon, Jay Stortzum World Community Service Committee: Develops international projects in cooperation with other Rotary clubs and District 6490; recommends projects to the Board and WGRC; carries out approved projects; and informs members of results. Co-Chairs: Carl Burkybile Members: Jay Stortzum, Brad Uken Veteran s Support Committee: Recognizes Club Veterans and strives to increase awareness of Veterans needs in community; seeks opportunities to support local efforts to assist Wounded Warriors; and cooperates with other local Rotary Clubs to host an annual Veteran s Day luncheon.
