FROM THE DESK OF MRS. LA SALLE St. Mary s School-Building for the future. January 20, 2015 Dear Parents: Let s hope for warmer weather! Our Cumulative Tests are finished for third and fourth graders. Students in grades 5-8 are taking the tests this week. The end of the marking period is this Friday. We are now preparing for the annual Catholic Schools Week celebration which begins this Sunday, January 25 th. The theme this year is Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service. You may have noticed-this theme is the same as last year s. It is very appropriate in that it focuses on key components of Catholic education: faith development, academic excellence and dedication to service. I am proud that these elements describe St. Mary s School and what we strive for! As you know the week is filled with activities. Please see the flyer in the packet for the schedule of events. Please join us for the following activities: Sunday, 1/25 Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please visit your child s classroom after Mass. Monday, 1/26 Liturgy at 8:30 a.m. Grade 2 will be preparing the Liturgy. To celebrate Student Appreciation Day and St Mary's Community of Service, Students are invited to wear their pajamas to school on Tuesday, January 27 In order to wear pajamas to school, students are asked to donate one new pair of children's pajamas or adult lounge pants per family. Campbell Soup Labels for Education Are Back! We will once again be collecting the Labels For Education. Collecting labels is an easy way to make money for our school. Simply cut and send your labels into school.
Valentine Chocolate Rose Sale $1.00 each The 8 th Grade Chocolate Rose Fundraiser begins this week! Please help our class reach our fundraising goals by joining in the sale. Each SMS student will receive a Genevieve s chocolate rose order sheet on Thursday so they can begin selling. The roses will be distributed during the second week of February and are sure to make a super yummy Valentine s treat! Additionally, children of families selling 20 or more roses will earn a NUT card to use during the month of February. Individually Wrapped Chocolate Roses are offered in 3 Varieties: Milk Chocolate, Sale begins: Thursday, January 8 th White Chocolate and Red (White Chocolate) Sale ends: Thursday, January 22 rd Look for your child s order sheet and additional information in their take home folders this week!
