Work Experience: 2010 I am currently President and Senior Trainer for Safety Communications Corp. This year, I have presented many programs such as ICS 300 training for Municipal & County Senior Emergency Responders, 40 hr & 8 Industry Emergency Team Training, 8 hr refreshers for Construction crews that do Hazardous Materials clean up. A large project last summer included 4 hrs ethanol-training sessions at 20 different Fire Depts. throughout Maine. I ve also conducted one full-scale exercise as well as tabletop exercises including the Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) After Action Reports. 2007 I was a contract Safety Officer for Cyr Construction on an Army Corp of Engineers Construction project in Van-Buren, Me. I also continued my training programs for Hazwoper, Hazwaste and Safety. 2006 I began instructing OSHA 10 hr Outreach programs as well as hazmat and confined space training programs. 2005 I retired from DEP and have since work as a Hazmat/OSHA training specialist. I have been conducting HAZMAT, Confined spaces and DECON training for Industry Teams, Emergency Responders and Hospital HAZMAT teams. I ve been working with a couple of fuel transport companies and have been conducting their Fire Extinguisher and DOT related Hazmat Training for their drivers. 1989 I started and began working part time as a HAZMAT instructor for Safety Communications 1984 I began work as Oil and Hazardous Materials Specialist I (OHMS), with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in Presque Isle. To date, I've investigated over 2100 oil and hazardous material incidents. I am highly trained in Hazardous Material Handling, Confined Space work, Oil spill containment and control. The incidents that stand out as the most challenging have been: The 1985 Nosedock jet fuel pipeline break at Loring AFB where 15,000 gals was recovered from surface waters, an unknown amount was lost. The 1987 Loring/ Searsport jet fuel pipeline release of 30,000 plus gallons in Fort Fairfield into a commercial Trout Farm pond. The 1988 L.E. MacNair Pesticide manufacturing site in Houlton. The 1994 Spring Flood in Fort Fairfield where we recovered about 7,000 gal of heating oil from the streets and basements. The total amount of oil lost was estimated at 17,000 gals. The 1996 Irving oil Bulk Plant heating oil spill in Houlton. The 2001 Anthrax incident at the DEFAS facility at the former Loring AFB in Limestone. 1980 I began my work for the Dept. of Environmental Protection. My first job was with the Bureau of Water Quality Control as an Environmental Services Specialist II. My work consisted of water quality monitoring at the Bald Mt. copper site, investigation of citizen complaints concerning violations of Maine's water quality, and enforcement of wastewater discharge licenses. 1979 After my hitch in the Navy, I worked at Bath Iron Works (BIW) as a Marine Electrician, while I waited for The Longley hiring freeze on state jobs to end. 1975 Due to the inability to advance in laboratory field, I pursued a new career in the U.S. Navy as an Anti - Submarine Warfare (ASW) Technician. After extensive training in electronics, I served with Patrol Squadron Twenty-six. My work consisted of repairing electronic equipment on P-3 Orion Aircraft. 1974 After receiving my Associates Degree in Marine Science at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, I went to work at Potato Service Inc. in Presque Isle as a lab technician. My responsibilities included laboratory analysis of the wastewater from the sewage control facility and sampling of the Aroostook River. Page #1
