Fire Chief Director of Fire Rescue Services This area s first countywide Fire Chief, reporting directly to the County Administrator, I was selected to unify ten separate fire departments into one countywide fire service agency. Successfully consolidated services overseeing operations of ten fire stations and approximately 150 personnel. Wrote and implemented the County s first standardized S.O.G. and Policy Manual for Fire Service. Initiated Fire Rescue BLS/First Response for EMS calls countywide and the implementation of non-emergency transport services. Awarded and managed over $ 4.2 million in Federal Grant programs, including the FEMA AFG Grant program in less than 8 years. These funds provided for: New & upgraded SCBA countywide with individual masks for each member, New turn-out and protective gear from helmets to boots for each member, Hazardous materials and special operations equipment, Thermal imaging cameras in each battalion the first ever in the county, New fire equipment and apparatus from hoses and nozzles to a completely equipped new Engine / Tanker meeting full N.F.P.A. compliance. In 2005, awarded a FEMA FIRES Grant of $331,000 for a Mobile Fire Training / Flashover Simulator. Implemented Firefighter Basic Training in a partnership with Lake-Sumter Community College, and trained over 100 First Responders. Wrote the job descriptions for two new key positions: Working with the County s H-R Coordinator, created and filled the position of Deputy Chief Administration to oversee Fire Prevention and Training. In June 2005, again working with H-R created and filled the position of Deputy Chief Operations through the County s first Assessment Center process. Both positions report directly to the Fire Chief.

Professional Experience continued Developed a standardized specification for quick-attack foam and rescue trucks, placing three of these units into service. Placed into service the County s first Aerial Truck, a refurbished 95 Sutphen Aerial Platform and a new mobile air compressor / cascade unit for SCBA and breathing air. Developed the first five-year capital improvement plan for fire stations and fire apparatus for Sumter County Fire Rescue. This has resulted in 6 new standardized Engines and 5 new standardized Tankers added to the fleet in 2006-08. Working with consulting firms hired by the County, formulated and implemented Fire Service Impact Fees and Strategic Planning. 2000 2005 THE JTS ASSOCIATION Bradenton, Fl. As Senior Associate, I am responsible for program development designed specifically for individual agency s needs.
