National Institute of Technology Silchar Assam, PIN-788010 Call for Project Proposal Scheme: Science, Technology and Innovation Scheme (STIS) Funding Agency: NIT Silchar National Institute of Technology Silchar is proudly announcing the launch of Science, Technology and Innovation Scheme (STIS) to promote Science, Technology and Innovation in the country. The project is unique and first of its kind in the country which aims to address the challenging issues of NE region through advanced scientific and technological innovation. The project intentions to foster the scientific, technical and innovation community to work for improvement of social and economical standard of North East. National Institute of Technology Silchar is inviting Project Proposals under STIS from the Indian Nationals as per the prescribed format. ELIGIBILITY 1. The scheme is open to all regular faculties/scientists of IITs, NITs, CFIs, CUs and other Central Govt. institutions (Research and Academic). 2. He/she should have a PhD in Engineering / Science. 3. The project proposal may be individual/collaborative. In case of collaborative proposal all communications and funding will be made to Principal Investigator (PI). A letter of consent from the collaborative institute must be submitted along with the project proposal. FUNDING 1. Upto a maximum of Rs. 5 lakhs (including a maximum of 5% overhead charges) for a period not exceeding two years. 2. Funds are provided for equipments, consumables, travel and contingency etc. Honorarium to the PI and Co-PIs are not permitted. GUIDELINES 1. The project proposals for consideration under this Scheme can be submitted anytime throughout the year. 2. All care must be taken to write a good proposal. The proposal should be written in English and must contain significant novelty/deliverables and should lead to innovative product development/patent/publications. 3. The investigators may submit 2 copies of the proposal printed on both the sides of A4 size paper, properly stapled and without spiral binding along with the electronic copy of the proposal on a CD/ email, preferably in pdf. 4. The proposal should be prepared and submitted strictly according to the formats prescribed in this document. 2 P a g e
5. Incomplete application and application lacking scientific/technical details will not be considered. 6. At the time of submission of proposals, it is necessary to get it forwarded by the competent authority of the concerned institute/organization/university/college. 7. The duration of the project should not be more than 2 years. 8. Please read explanatory notes and detailed instructions carefully for completing each section of the prescribed format while preparing the proposal. 9. Please contact the coordinator, if the acknowledgement letter mentioning the registration number of the project is not received within one month from the date of dispatch of the proposals. 10. Any procurement(s) of items/equipment should be strictly as per the GFR. 11. Please make sure to quote the registration number/ letter number (given by the NIT Silchar) and title of the proposals in all your future communications. 12. The information should be given under each section, even if it is Nil. 13. Clinically oriented project or projects, which involve experiments with human and/or animal material, should be examined and certified by Institutional Ethics Committee. 14. Any unspent balance of grant of the previous FY will be deemed to be carried forward to the next FY during the project. 15. The PI is expected to attend Monitoring Meetings/Workshop to present the progress/outcome of the research project, as and when organized. 16. Diversion of the grant is not allowed unless permission is granted. 17. The Principal Investigator (PI) should furnish two copies of Progress Report of the work on the project after every six months. Audited utilization certificates should be sent after each year. At the end of the two year/completion of the project the PI may be called to NIT Silchar for presenting the report. 18. The primary objective of this scheme is to develop prototype/innovative product for common use. However investigators are at liberty to publish the research outcome with appropriate acknowledgement of the sanctioned project. The PI also has the responsibility of informing the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) about any papers published from the project implementation even after the completion of the project tenure.
