ABOUT THE HOST ASSOCIATION Established in 1986, EASO is a federation of professional membership associations from 32 European countries. It is the voice of the European obesity community, representing scientists, health care practitioners, physicians, public health experts and patients. EASO is in official relations with the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Europe and is a founding member of the EU Platform on Diet, Physical Activity and Health. EASO promotes action through collaboration: in advocacy, communication, education and research. The Objectives of EASO are: To support the development of a unified evidence-based approach to tackling obesity across disciplines and countries. We do this by coordinating messages, connecting stakeholders and creating opportunities for collaboration. To advocate obesity as an urgent and relevant health priority to policymakers, international organisations, NGOs, research funders, health professionals, media, industry and the public. We do this by scoping the European landscape to identify evidence gaps and galvanising partners in order to close those gaps and develop arguments that impact policy To identify and articulate effective solutions to these stakeholders. We do this by engaging key actors, EASO supports the development of an environment in which policy changes can take place. We do this by providing evidence based resources such as information, toolkits, and collaborative networks, EASO lays the foundation for the policy conversation. To create and support active campaign groups. We do this by identifying national champions, providing training, encouragement and guidance, and coordinating actions via the EASO Patient Council To support our national members. We do this by providing tools and guidance that meet national needs and help establish strong local structures and communities to foster education, research and communication at the national level Provide knowledge, advocacy and training to improve the quality, availability and access of care. We do this by sharing knowledge across countries and specialties to support the development of best practice, and by working together to provide resources that enable the development of a new generation of advocates, activists, practitioners and researchers Provide a global platform for sharing ideas and developing solutions in the European context. We do this by using established EASO structures (including the ECO, expert and patient networks, website, social media platforms) to leverage and amplify the work of EASO stakeholders 4

25th European Congress on Obesity May 23 26 2018 Vienna, Austria ABOUT THE LOCAL ASSOCIATION The Austrian Obesity Association has started in 1997 and has now almost 200 members. There has been a continuous growth in activities including publication activities. Members of the Austrian organisation have been in the Executive Council, the International Obesity Management and the Public Health Task Forces. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Colleagues We are delighted to announce that in 2018 the congresses of EASO (ECO2018) will take place in Vienna, Austria from 23 26 May 2018. Vienna, a city with about two million inhabitants, is situated in the very heart of Europe. The city hosts one of the United Nations headquarters and is home to a number of other international organisations. Vienna is easily accessible from Europe and the World via plane, train and car. Due to its unique geographic and geopolitical location, Vienna has been the setting for many international events and has become a popular conference venue. The Organising Committee and the Board of EASO have created a vibrant platform which will bring together colleagues from every area of obesity research, prevention and management. Participants are clinicians, practitioners, physicians, nutritionists, surgeons and researchers all experts and key opinion leaders in the field of obesity and its related conditions. We will deliver an extremely attractive and diverse scientific programme and we will implement a strategic marketing plan will help to attract a high number of expert delegates. We anticipate attracting 1500-2000 European and International participants and the ECO2018 Organising Committee has developed a programme structure that offers significant delegate exposure with poster sessions, catering and a major social event taking place within the commercial exhibition. Exhibitor registration All exhibitors are required to be registered and will receive a badge displaying the exhibiting company name. Two exhibitor badges per 9 sqm rented exhibition space will be given (no access to scientific sessions). Any additional personnel will be charged with an exhibitor registration fee of 60 per day ( 180 for 3 days). Any registered booth will receive at least 1 complimentary full congress pass, depending on the size of booth. An exhibitor registration form will be included in the exhibitors technical manual. Distributors visiting companies have to obtain a regular day ticket. All commercial participants must adhere to the ECO 2018 Sponsorship Guidelines and the organisers reserve the right to accept or decline all offers of sponsorship and applications for exhibition space. The acceptance of sponsorship and/or the allocation of stand space does not mean that the information provided by the commercial participant is endorsed by ECO 2018 or by the local organisers. ECO 2018 Sponsorship Guidelines are available via www.easo.org (meetings section). It is the sponsor s and/or exhibitor s responsibility to adhere to any laws applicable in the country where the ECO 2018 is being held. The organisers accept no responsibility whatsoever for any transgression of such laws by sponsors or exhibitors at ECO 2018. The law of the UK shall be applicable to the whole contractual relationship between the organisers and sponsors/exhibitors. Any disputes which should arise as a result of the agreements are subject to the adjudication of the competent court of jurisdiction in the UK. For reasons beyond their control (such as war, strikes, lockouts, riots or any such civil disturbances, any acts of God, including but not limited to earthquakes, floods and droughts and any other cause or circumstance of whatsoever nature beyond its control that have an impact on the arrangements, timetables or planning of a scientific meeting), the ECO 2018 Organisers have the right to immediately alter or cancel the congress or any of the arrangements, timetables, plans or other items relating directly or indirectly to ECO 2018. The participants shall not be entitled to any compensation for damages that result from such alteration or cancellation. Furthermore, with the exception of any wilful damage or gross negligence committed by ECO 2018 Organisers, the ECO 2018 Organisers shall not at any time be liable for any direct or indirect damage suffered by the participants, including consequential and immaterial damage, caused by failure to comply with any provision of this document. The commercial exhibition will be held in an area which will also include the poster exhibition and all catering and will be in close proximity to all lecture halls. The organisers reserve the right to amend the floor plan should it be felt that such an amendment would benefit the congress as a whole. The enclosed provisional exhibition floor plan has been designed in accordance with the regulations of the congress venue and with the intention of maximising each individual stand s exposure to the participants of ECO 2018. The organisers must approve all Space Only stand designs. Exhibition space will be allocated to major and principal sponsors and then sold on a first come, first served basis. In return for a hyperlink from your company logo on the congress website, the sponsor is required to provide a reciprocal link from their website to the congress website www.easo.org Payment Schedule A deposit of 50% of the expected total fee for is requested upon application. Applications received without 50% deposit will not be processed nor stand space assigned. Confirmation of your sponsorship item or stand space reservation will be sent upon receipt of this deposit. An invoice for the balance due on the sponsorship item or stand space rental fee will be sent in January 2018. The amount of the invoice is due within 30 days of receipt. If full payment is not received in due time, the assigned stand space may be reassigned and the deposit forfeited. Sponsors will not be permitted to hold sessions and exhibitors will not be allowed to occupy the assigned stand space unless the relevant fee has been settled in full in advance of the congress. Warning fraudulent websites and agencies The EASO society and their PCO and official housing partner Mondial Congress & Events are aware that, in recent years, a number of service providers (e.g. Exhibition Housing Services, Exhibition Housing Management and Trade Show Housing ), have contacted companies who have supported our events, citing a named event, to offer hotel reservation services. Additionally, we are increasingly being confronted with fake websites which seem to relate to congresses but do neither originate from EASO nor from Mondial Congress & Events and have not been commissioned by authorised web design agencies. These imitation sites invite congress participants to supply their personal details and promise, in return, to provide offers for travel and accommodation. Mondial Congress & Events DOES NOT place telephone calls requesting the personal details or credit card information of participants! Please on no account supply your details over the telephone. Mondial Congress & Events will always provide you with the official booking forms, either in written format or online. Your personal data will be treated securely and the purchased and paid services are ensured. Only Mondial Congress & Events has access to the officially contracted ECO 2018 room blocks and rates. Be aware that unauthorised companies might not deliver what they promise in terms of quality and location. Rates and extra charges may be inflated or hefty fees placed on credit cards.
