ENTRY DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 3, 2017 Teams: $150 Individual/Limited: $40 Plus the cost of an AQHA membership, where applicable. Eligibility A. Participants must be full-time undergraduate students in good standing as determined by their school requirements. A minimum grade point average of 2.5/4.0 (ct.) is recommended. Participants may not be an approved judge of any national horse association. B. Any two-year junior or four-year senior college or university may participate in the contest. There will be separate divisions for junior and senior colleges/universities. C. Contestants may only compete once in their lifetime in the limited division, once in their lifetime in the junior college division and once in their lifetime in the senior college division. A contestant may judge in any division only once and cannot judge in the junior college division after having judged in the senior college division. D. Participants must be current members of the American Quarter Horse Association. The AQHA membership number for each team member must be provided on the contest entry form. If you have team members who are not current AQHA members, a new membership or renewal must be purchased at time of entry ($20) and submitted on the form provided with the entry packet. This is not an online offer. E. Junior College Division 1. Each school may enter two teams. 2. Teams will consist of no more than four (4) members and not less than three (3) members. 3. Four-member teams will have an alternate option with the lowest score in each division (performance, halter, reasons and overall) being discarded; however, the alternate is eligible for individual awards. Three-member teams will not have an alternate option. F. Limited Division 1. Students may participate in the limited division if they have not ever participated on a junior or senior college team at the AQHA Collegiate World Show contest. 2. Students will judge as individuals only. 3. There will be no limit on number of entries from an individual school. 4. Participants will not be separated by junior or senior college. 5. Overall awards will be given from 1st through 10th place only. 6. Entry fees for the limited division will be set by the host organization. 7. Two sets of reasons will be given from the approved list of classes. Reasons takers will be selected from available coaches. G. Senior College Division 1. Each school may enter two teams. 2. Teams will consist of no more than five (5) members and not less than four (4) members. 3. Five-member teams will have an alternate option with the lowest score in each division (performance, halter, reasons and overall) being discarded; however, the alternate is eligible for individual awards. Four-member teams will not have an alternate option. H. Individuals from any college may judge and are eligible for individual awards; however, they must be currently enrolled in a junior or senior college. Any contestant that competes in the junior or senior college division as an individual is ineligible to return whatsoever in that division. Contestants that compete in the limited division may return in a future year to compete in the junior college (and/or) senior college division. A contestant may judge in any division only once and cannot judge in the junior college division after having judged in the senior college division. I. Reasons will be given on two halter classes and four performance classes. Performance classes with an (*) are possible reasons classes, and all halter classes are possible reasons classes. Disqualifications A. Any communication (physical or digital) between contestants during a contest will be sufficient cause to eliminate the contestants from the contest. B. Teams arriving after the contest has started will be disqualified. No member substitutions may be made after the contest begins. C. Any assistance given to a team member from any source other than contest officials or assistants will be sufficient cause to eliminate the team from the contest. Equipment A. All contestants will provide their own writing instruments. A number 2 pencil is required to mark the scantron. B. Contestants may use clipboards and preprinted score sheets; however, both must be clean and free of any personal comments or marks. C. Contestants may use the AQHA Handbook of Rules and Regulations during the contest. Questions regarding rules must be directed to the contest moderator.
