C O M President s Welcome Happy New Year ONA members! As I reflected on the past year and developed plans for 2017, the typical thoughts ran through my mind; I need to get healthy, eat the right foods, perform daily activity, and focus on those things that are important to me such as my faith, family, friends, and career. Many of you had the same thoughts. As nurses, we tend to take care of everyone but ourselves. Provision 5 of the Code of Ethics for Nurses states that the nurse, owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to promote health and safety, preserve wholeness of character and integrity, maintain competence, and continue personal and professional growth (ANA, 2015). We must role model healthy behaviors and practices and maintain our own well-being. Now is the perfect time to focus on the health of the nurses of Oklahoma. The American Nurses Association will be launching the Healthy Nurse, S P R I N G 2 0 1 7 Healthy Nation Grand Challenge very soon. Resources will include a comprehensive health risk appraisal free of charge and access to a web wellness portal. We hope all nurses will get involved in the challenge. Here is to a healthy and happy 2017! For more information on Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation please visit http:// nursingworld.org/ MainMenuCategories/ WorkplaceSafety/ Healthy-Nurse Brenda Nance, DNP, RN, CNE ONA President 2016-2017
