Fall 2017 Mini-Grant Application Introduction Love Your Block (LYB) is a competitive mini-grant program that engages residents in revitalizing their neighborhoods, one block at a time. The mini-grants are provided to neighborhood organizations to purchase the supplies needed for their local project. Neighborhood organizations are encouraged to identify challenges and develop volunteerfueled solutions. Neighborhood organizations in the City of Phoenix are invited to apply for a grant of up to $1,000 to support a revitalization project. This work is made possible in partnership with Cities of Service. Important Dates Application Release Date: September 1, 2017 Application Deadline: November 1, 2017 Mini-Grants Awardees Announced: December 1, 2017 Mandatory Orientation: December 13, 2017 Mandatory Budget & Project Review: January 10, 2018 Project Start Date: January 12, 2018 Project Completion Deadline: May 13, 2018 Mandatory Sustainability Convening: May 30, 2018 Grant Requirements In order to qualify for a mini-grant, each neighborhood organization will be asked to: Propose a project that will benefit the community and be open to the public Recruit 10 or more volunteers committed to implement & maintain the project Propose and execute a sustainability plan for the project Propose a project that does not exceed $1,000 in mini-grant funding Complete the project by May 13, 2018 Have a group bank account If project site is on private property, produce a letter of permission from property owner List with the Neighborhood Notification Listing (NNO) Please call (602) 495-7509 if you have questions about these requirements. (e.g., removing litter or graffiti, landscaping green space, monthly watering of community garden, painting touchup on community mural) Measuring Success 1. How will your group measure if the project goals are met? (e.g., measuring pounds of garbage removed, square feet of graffiti removed, number of volunteers recruited) 2. Who will be responsible for keeping track of project metrics? Neighborhood Engagement Information 1. What tasks can volunteers do to make your project a success? (e.g. digging holes for trees, painting walls, collecting trash, designing mural) 5
