She has remained in the field of education for the past 32 years. She has taught almost every type of student at every level of education from K-12 and at the university level. She has taught many subjects, including speech therapy, Life Science, American History and Reading. Dr. Johnson has worked as a classroom teacher, an elementary school principal, a LDE program manager and regional coordinator, a central office administrator, a professional development specialist, a LATAAP Trainer, a college professor, and an educational consultant. She has won numerous awards throughout her career. She was named 1985 Caddo Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year, 1986 Outstanding Young Woman of America, and CAE/Shreveport Times Elementary Educator of the Year, and Louisiana Regional Finalist for Teacher of the Year. In addition, Dr. Johnson was awarded 1987 Shreveport Jaycees Outstanding Young Educator, 1987 LSUS Outstanding Alumni, 1994, 1997, and 2006 Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Outstanding Educator, and 2006 Dean s Award for the College of Education Retreat at Mississippi Valley State University. She is a graduate of Leadership Shreveport-Bossier, a former Caddo Parish Administrative Intern, and was a participant in LSU Shreveport and Caddo Parish School Board s Project Leader II Program. She is a trainer of trainers for State Assessment, Active Parenting, District Assistance Teams and Cooperative Learning, an external assessor and a school support team member. Today, Dr. Johnson is the PK-16+Coordinator, an assistant professor at Grambling State University, and coordinator of the Master s Program in Educational Leadership. She is a co-founder of the Professional Joint Educational Consulting Team (PRO-JECT, Inc.), a non-profit educational consulting firm. She has served on a variety of local, regional and state committees including the Louisiana Department of Education s Standards for School Principals and Pre-K through Higher Education Task Forces and was a presenter at the Urban Education Conference on Strengthening Urban Education at Jackson State University in 2006. Dr. Johnson is trained as a support provider for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, as a trainer for the Southern Regional Educational Board, as an ELCC Program Reviewer for NCATE, and a PRAXIS PLT Scorer. She is a highly recognized consultant who gives inservice workshops and keynote speeches to teachers, administrators, students, parents, colleges, universities, professional organizations, churches, youth groups, and businesses across the country. Dr. Johnson received her PhD in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi. Her research topic was: Faculty Perceptions of the Critical Dimensions of Leadership for College of Education Deans in Two Louisiana Universities. Dr. Johnson is Basileus of Beta Omega Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, a member of the National Staff Development Council and the Louisiana 2

Staff Development Council, Phi Delta Kappa, American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Louisiana Association of Retired Educators, and secretary of the Louisiana Association of Teacher Educators. At Grambling State University, Dr. Johnson is a member of the College of Education Administrative Council, Professional Education Council, chairperson of the PK-16+ Council, Grambling Laboratory Schools SACS Committee, Chair of the Grambling Lab Schools Hearing Committee, and a member of the PRAXIS Oversight Committee. She is also a literacy volunteer and coordinator of the LVA Centenary Literacy Volunteer training program, a tutor and a mentor in the local community, and an active member of Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
