GOVERNOR S MESSAGE We are already into the 10th month of this Kiwanis year. I have completed my official visits to all nine Regions in the MO-ARK District. It was a real joy to visit with Kiwanians all over the district. I want to give a special thank you to the Kiwanis Clubs and Lieutenant Governors that arranged for Lori to visit a school and read to the kids and then leave books for them. I can t describe how great it was to see those kids faces when they got to choose a book of their very own. In June Lori and I were able to attend the Kiwanis International Convention in Toronto, Canada. It was a very busy four days packed full of some very good educational sessions and a lot of fellowship and fun. Overall attendance at the convention was down, only just over 2700 in attendance. Mo-Ark was well represented by those attending from our district. Our Secretary, Jeff Hartman arranged for a very nice district dinner for all MO-ARK Kiwanians attending the convention. Thank you Jeff! The next MO-ARK district event will be our 66th annual District Convention. This year our convention will be held August 11 August 14 at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel in North Little Rock, AR. Registration for the convention is available on the district web site. (moarkkiwanis.net) An overview of the convention activities along with a tentative schedule of events can also be found on the web site. At the House of Delegates we will elect officers for the 2016-2017 Kiwanis year, consider amendments to our district bylaws, adopt resolutions and other business that may come before the delegate body. I want to call your attention to a special event to be held Friday evening. This year Kamp Kiwanis has been approved as our District Project to assist and serve underprivileged children. You are invited to take a hike for Kamp Kiwanis. You can register online at moarkkiwanis.net. Your registration includes a Kamp Kiwanis Take a Hike tee shirt with a new Kamp Kiwanis logo on the back. After the hike we will gather for an indoor campfire with some fun entertainment. If you do not want to participate in the hike you may register as a camper and go straight to the campfire and wait for the hikers to join you. With just over two months remaining in this Kiwanis year, we still have much to do. We are working hard planning a very interesting and exciting MO-ARK District convention August 11-14 in North Little Rock, AR. This will be a great convention that you will not want to miss. I ask you to finish this year strong, to share your life in the great work of Kiwanis. Governor Don 3 July, 2016 KIWANIGRAM
