Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) The Riverine Force, combat arms component of NECC Small, Agile, Necessary: Riverine expeditionary capability hugely important to the Navy. SEAPOWER June 2009 Stand Up an SSN Squadron in Kings Bay 7 more Virginia Class Submarines to be built in 3 years Navy Exploring the Option of a modified Hull similar to the SSGN Replacement Platforms for SSBN s First R & D Funding began 2010 Advance Procurement of First SSBN (X) 2015 Estimated date UK begins 2017 Latest Start Date for the Lead SSBN (X) 2019 Boats start retiring in 2027 Lobby for sufficient funds for the replacement platform Replacement Platform must already be seaworthy by that time Special Operations Forces (SOF) Future Options New and unique opportunities now abound in Kings Bay with the recent home port assignments of the guided missile submarines USS FLORIDA (SSGN 728) and USS GEORGIA (SSGN 729). These assignments create an operational relationship between Kings Bay and the Special Operations (SOF) community. Joint Commands Look for hosting Army and Air Force Commands Expand our Options - Single Mission Concept by investigating missions that may be transferred from other services Expand the footprint of military contractors already located in Camden County WHY NOT GEORGIA! Working with the Governors Point man for GA s military bases Unmanned Systems With vast percentage of the DOD budget dedicated to unmanned systems, we will lobby for Research and Development Companies to come to Camden County

When the country needs federal agencies the most the Coast Guard is the one we call. After the record we have had with the responsiveness of our Coast Guard why aren t we increasing rather than decreasing their budget? Do we remember what happened on 9/11? The Coast Guard evacuated half a million people that day. This was a bigger evacuation than Dunkirk in WWII with 350,000 evacuees. And they did it well. The Coast Guard makes it happen. Look at the agencies involved with Katrina when the Coast Guard came in and saved 33,000 lives. This is equal to the number of lives usually saved in 6 years and it was accomplished in about 6 days. While Camden County is also focused on the loss of our MSST and the specifically designed and essential security they represent we are also in the midst of a great national responsibility to support the military force that we call on in our darkest hours to insure that they have the ships and capabilities they need for our future. What do we as a community do about this? Everything we can The Camden Partnership taking the lead Partnered with all local governments, JDA, Chamber of Commerce and Navy League of the United States Our Points: Equalization Recapitalization Jobs Bills
