This state is known for many firsts. Colonists here took the first military action against England. The first British troops sent to end the revolution landed here. This colony was the first to declare independence. The Industrial Revolution in America started here in 1790. Today, this state is popular for vacations. Boaters and fishermen come to enjoy the ocean. Others come to look at famous mansions. On the south, this state is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean. Massachusetts lies to the north and east.
