STEMI System of Care Where do you fit in? Fogelson Forum Auditorium 8200 Walnut Hill Lane Dallas, TX 75231 Saturday, May 16, 2015 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. CME presented by www.texashealth.org/cme

Conference Description A STEMI is the most severe type of heart attack requiring coordination from a variety of providers from paramedics, nursing and physicians. The timing and collaboration is a crucial aspect of care. The STEMI System of Care is a way of thinking that helps every STEMI team member deliver prompt care with evidence based treatments. Most providers are not aware of the importance of their role from transfer coordination with EMS, and the treatment modalities in the cath lab, ICU and OR. This educational opportunity will guide physicians and all members of the team on how to collaboratively care for the STEMI patient. This conference has been designed for cardiology, emergency and intensive care physicians, along with emergency department, cardiac catheterization lab, ICU, telemetry and flight nursing, cardiac catheterization lab radiology technologists and paramedics both ground and air. Conference Objectives Describe evidence-based processes for STEMI activation. Recommend proper transfer coordination with EMS and ED. Explain pathophysiology of plaque rupture. Explain therapeutic options for primary PCI in STEMI patients. Outline pathophysiology of therapeutic hypothermia and side effects. Describe management of the post arrest STEMI and identify who and why to choose life vest usage post STEMI. Consult evidence-based guidelines in preserving neurological function post cardiac arrest. Explain STS risk scores for the post STEMI patient. Review the role of surgery in post STEMI patient. Discuss 12 lead EKGs indicative of a STEMI case. Identify STEMI mimickers on a 12 lead EKG. Outline national data points for STEMI survival and D2B times. Acknowledgements A complete listing of all financial support will be made available in the syllabus.
