INTRODUCTION TO LESM Page 3 Licensing Executives Society Malaysia (LESM) is a local chapter of Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), an association of 32 national and regional Member Societies comprised of professionals who have an interest in the transfer of technology, or licensing of intellectual property rights. LESM is a nonprofit professional and educational society that promotes high standards and ethics among professionals engaged in domestic and international licensing and other transfer of technology and intellectual property rights. LESM also assists its members in improving their skills and techniques in licensing through selfeducation and exchange of information. LESM plays the role of keeping the public, business communities, governmental and international bodies informed about the latest and most accurate information pertaining to economic significance of technology licensing and intellectual property rights. As the local chapter of LESI, LESM shares the following formal objectives of LESI:- 1. The formal objectives of LES International, which were adopted more than 20 years ago, are as follows: To function as a non-profit professional society encouraging high professional standards among individuals engaged in the transfer and licensing of technology and industrial or intellectual property rights. 2. To assist its members in improving their skills and techniques in licensing through self-education, the conduct of special studies and research, the sponsorship of educational meetings, the publication of statistics, reports, articles and other material, and the exchange of ideas related to domestic and foreign licensing. 3. To inform the public, international bodies, governmental bodies, and the business community concerning the economic significance of licensing and the high professional standards of those engaged in the licensing profession. 4. To make available to its members the latest, most accurate, information on licensing. LESM will be hosting its 2015 LES Asia Pacific Regional Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 30 September 2015 to 2 October 2015. Kuala Lumpur is the home of many world-class venues for conferences and LESM believes that the regional conference will be a success especially with the anticipated guidance, support and encouragement by fellow LES Asia pacific committee members. Kuala Lumpur offers a brilliant array of activities for tourists as it brings together Malaysia's past and present, its many constituent cultures, and even its remarkable natural treasures, allowing first-time visitors an invaluable opportunity to see Malaysia as a whole. As for the repeat visitors, there is always something in KL that will attract you.
