Here are the list of categories: Dry Bulk Operator of the Year The dry bulk market has been tough over the last year, and this award is to recognise the operator or owner that has demonstrated the strength and business acumen to shine. The judging panel will be looking for the operator that has been able to stand out from the crowd. It may be a company that has remained strong and pushed forward with consolidation plans, or has been able to demonstrate a resilience to market developments through best of class strategy. The winner of this award will have demonstrated that over the previous 12 months it has been able to maintain first class safety levels, best operational efficiency and performance even if profitability may have been a hard won battle. ClassNK Tanker Operator of the Year Judges are looking for the operator, whether in gas, crude, product or chemical trades, that has led the way by demonstrating a level of excellence that goes well beyond the norm. Submissions may be from companies that have shown a unique and different approach to the sector, have shown leadership in sustainability or business performance or have shown the strength to bring change in the industry. Containership Operator of the Year This award recognises the containership operator or owner that has demonstrated bold, successful performance in the last twelve months. The award is open to owners and operators that can show industry leadership and excellence in the face of current market conditions. Among other things, the 2017 judging panel will be looking for excellence in business innovation, profitability and market share or exceptional performance in operational matter such as safety, efficiency or reliability. The winner of the 2017 ClassNK Tanker Operator of the Year will be a company that has shone brightly throughout the year, and has been able to demonstrate first class performance whether operationally or financially. Categories Entry deadline: 23 June 2017 Enter today at: lloydslistawards-global.com The Insurance Day Maritime Insurance Award Safety Award In partnership with Insurance Day this award is to highlight the role and work of the insurance companies and the P&I Clubs. Nominations for this award should be from clubs and insurance companies that have shown excellence in underwriting, claims and risk management. The judges will be looking for nominations that not only show underwriting and claims expertise and profitability over the last year, but which also show evidence of new products or services that underscore a drive to reduce risk. The award is open to companies across all sectors which can demonstrate robust and effective improvements to their operations at sea or ashore over the last year. Judges will be looking for examples of safety innovation, investment in safety training and proven reductions to accident rates, but they will also consider examples that demonstrate long-term consistency and best in class performance. Training Award insuranceday Business intelligence The i-law Maritime Lawyer of the Year This award celebrates the very best in the legal profession and will go to the individual lawyer or law firm that has offered the best service to the maritime industry over the past 12 months. Judges will be looking for exemplary expertise and commitment to the shipping industry as well as looking for clear examples of innovation where lawyers have played a crucial role in notable cases, restructuring, dispute resolution or finance. This award will go to a company with an exceptional commitment to improving safety standards in the shipping industry. This award goes to a company for outstanding commitment in training its employees ashore or at sea or a company or institution that can demonstrate a contribution towards improving training standards across the maritime industry as a whole. Judges will consider examples of investment in new facilities and courses, innovative training solutions and a sustained and effective approach to developing quality staff in the maritime sector. The winner will need to demonstrate why they stand out above all others this year and have set the benchmark for the rest of the industry to aim for. Categories Entry deadline: 23 June 2017 Enter today at: lloydslistawards-global.com The Hutchison Ports Environment Award The Hutchison Ports Environment Award honours the institution, company or individual that has done the most to reduce the pollution of our environment from maritime sources. The contribution could include, but is not restricted to, ship design and operation, port operations, company-wide environmental policy, or successful policy effort on the part of a public official with maritime responsibility. Judges will be looking for tangible metrics by which success can be measured. Judges will be looking for the shipping company that was best able to innovate and adapt to the rapidly changing nature of the shipping markets over the past 12 months and, who knows, profit as a result. Judges will be looking for unique stories that demonstrate advancements in strategy, profitability and efficiency, but they will also need to be convinced that the winner has succeeded above all others or has one of the most unique stories to tell. Previous winners of this category are Euronav, Maersk Cardiff Marine, Costamare and CMA CGM. Deal of the Year The Next Generation Shipping Award This category is non-enterable. This award-winner will be selected by our Lloyd s List Editorial team, and will go to a young, up and coming shipping industry leader, one who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry. We will be selecting the brightest and best explaining why it is time for their light to shine. Company of the Year This hard won award will go to the nominated financial firm or entity that has shown the biggest most audacious move in the industry. The shipping markets are ripe for actors to make brave moves that lead to much needed consolidation and entrepreneurial zeal. The Deal of the Year winner, whether the company that has been part of the deal or the financial driver behind it, will impress the judges with its size, swiftness and winning strategy. It will be a bank or other financial body or company that has led from the front in demonstrating a unique move in the markets. In this category the judges are looking for the most dynamic success story or development from a shipping company from within all sectors. Supported by Lloyd s List since 1999, this award has become one of the most prestigious international awards for the crew of a vessel participating in the Amver global ship reporting system that has shown extraordinary courage and seamanship. Supported by Amver We are seeking entries from companies that can demonstrate a tangible example of innovation drawn applied to the benefit of shipping. The criteria for this award are necessarily wide, but we will be looking for solid projects that can prove measurable results in areas that demonstrate unique data analytics. Previous winners of this award have saved sailors from yachts, crews of stricken merchant vessels and assisted in the rescue of hundreds of passengers from a sinking ferry. Lifetime Achievement Award This award recognises an individual that has, over the course of his or her career, contributed to the wellbeing of the industry in a profound way. Lloyd s List Intelligence Maritime intelligence Port Operator Award This award recognises the company or port authority that has maintained the highest standards of operational efficiency and customer service throughout the year. The Lloyd s List panel of judges selects the winner from a list of nominations submitted from the editorial team and the panel of judges. The award is open to individual port or terminal operators as well as larger group operations. Our judges look at quality and performance improvement, not scale. Consideration will be given to tangible examples of innovation, improved efficiency, profitability or successful investment in port operations over the year. Judges will also be looking for evidence of a sustained commitment to customer service, cost and operational efficiency as well as an outstanding safety and environmental record. How do the judges select the winners? The judging criteria Once entries have been received and we ensure they meet the judging criteria, they are distributed to the judging panel. The judges will convene to discuss all the finalists and use the published criteria to individually discuss each entry to establish the winners. The judging panel The Lloyd s List Global Awards judging panel consists of an independent panel of industry experts judges will be announced soon on: lloydslistawards-global.com/judges Lloyd s List and the panel of Awards judges will not enter ANY discussion regarding individual entries and/or awards winners. The judging process is strictly confidential to ensure that the judging process is fair. Finalist notification All finalists will be notified directly by Lloyd s List. Please note Lloyd s List cannot be held responsible for any nominated company that does not supply an entry once contacted. Confidentiality Informa, organiser of the Lloyd s List Global Awards, recognises and respects the sensitive nature of the information submitted in the entries. We ensure that this recognition is shared by our Judging panel and that entries are not disclosed or discussed outside the judging process. The judging panel is selected to avoid any conflict of interest. Once an entry is shortlisted, extracts from the entry summary only will be sourced for inclusion in the awards ceremony and any subsequent editorial coverage. FAQs 1. How do I enter? A. It s very simple. Ensure you have read the entry guidelines and category criteria. Decide which category/categories you wish to enter, prepare your entry off-line. Once you are ready click Enter Now which takes you through the entry stages; follow the on-screen instructions and submit your entry by clicking Enter. Q2. How much does it cost to enter? A. Entering into the Lloyd s List Global Awards is free of charge. Q3. When is the entry deadline? A. Entries are being accepted up until the Friday 23 June 2017. Q4. I am not sure which category our entry would fit into? A. If you are not sure which category your entry fits into please contact Holly Mellish at holly.mellish@informa.com for further assistance. Q5. Can I enter the same submission into more than one category A. We encourage entries in more than one category per individual or company, where appropriate; please ensure to review the category criteria and tailor your entry accordingly. Q6. I am a sponsor of the awards am I still able to enter? A. Yes you can enter the awards and we would encourage this however you are unable to enter the category you are sponsoring. But don t worry there are plenty of other categories. Q7. How will I know whether my submission has been received? A. All submissions will be acknowledged by an automated email once you have submitted your entry - our awards team will also get in touch. The judges will convene to discuss all the finalists and will use the published criteria to individually discuss each shortlisted entry to establish the winners. The judging panel comprises independent, senior industry experts, chosen for their knowledge, objectivity and credibility. Judges discuss all categories relevant to their specialist knowledge, expertise and experience, ensuring a considered, educated response to your submission. The chair of the judging panel reserves the right to cast any deciding vote, should the need arise. The judges decision is final. Q9. How will I know if my submission has been successful? A. All finalists will be notified directly by Lloyd s List. Finalists will also be announced on our website Lloydslistawards-northamerica.com. You will be sent a finalist pack giving ideas and tips on how to publicise your success. Q10. What do I get if I win? A. The Lloyd s List Global Awards are highly regarded within the Shipping industry, winning an award establishes you as the leader in your field. In addition to your trophy and a certificate of recognition you will receive a winners pack which includes your awards winner logo, photos and ideas on how to publicise your success.
