RECRUITMET IITIATIVES 5 Date 5//7 5//7 7/6/7 9/6/7 9//7 Type of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection) Establishment of an intern program designed to assist members of the community Brief Description Of Activity Our SEU's Promotions Director & our Business Assistant gave a Studio tour and discussed broadcasting careers, opportunities, and industry trends to members of the Arkansas Arts on Tour Program at the request of board member Ruth Dinger. Our SEU's PSA Coordinator/On Air Personality gave a presentation on broadcasting careers, opportunities, and industry trends to students at King Magnet School for Career Day at the request of Thoma Thacker, Teacher. Our SEU, in conjunction with the Arkansas Broadcasters Association, hosted one intern from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro. SEU staff members provided the intern with a behind-the-scenes look at the operation of a radio station cluster. The intern learned about the function of each department by "shadowing" various staff members and was given the opportunity, with supervision, to participate in presentations as well as on-air broadcasts. She was also encouraged to ask questions, especially about jobs in radio and seek career advice. One of our SEU's s was invited to speak at a gala for women at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion regarding her career, careers in broadcasting, opportunities and industry trends. One of our SEU's was invited to the Chamber of Commerce's "Taste for Business" event at Verizon Arena. The event was attended by several local universities and local businesses where she was able to discuss opportunities in the broadcasting industry. Our SEU's, PSA Coordinator/On-Air Personality, gave a studio tour and discussed broadcasting careers, opportunities and industry trends to families in a suicide prevention group from Pulaski County at the request of Anna Johnson. Our SEU's PSA Coordinator/On Air Personality gave a presentation on broadcasting careers, opportunities, and industry trends to students in the Access to Career Counseling and Employment Class at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock at the request of Leslie Helms, Professor. Several Members of our SEU's On-Air Staff coordinated & hosted the Annual Chili Cook-off to raise money for the September Fund Scholarship Program.
