Speakers Speaker Bios James L. Bafaro Sr. Manager Global Corporate Citizenship The Boeing Company Jim Bafaro is Senior Manager of Global Corporate Citizenship for the Boeing Company in St. Louis. He manages a team of professionals who invest company charitable resources in St. Louis as well as in Mesa, Arizona; Wichita, Oklahoma City, Houston and San Antonio. This group oversees a charitable portfolio in each of these cities that includes volunteer resources, inkind donations, the placement of Boeing executives on the boards of directors of local non-profits, and the management of the Boeing Employees Community Fund. Bafaro served as Public Relations Director of the YWCA of Metro St. Louis before joining Boeing in 2001. Before that, he was a news director, manager, reporter, writer and editor in radio in St. Louis and Atlanta, and is a former show editor for National Public Radio's Morning Edition program in Washington. Bridget Sweeney Director of Business Operations Global Corporate Citizenship The Boeing Company Bridget Sweeney directs business operations for the Global Corporate Citizenship function and is responsible for all grantmaking, due diligence and employee giving systems and processes, as well as the function's budgeting activities. Joining Boeing and the GCC function in 2003, Sweeney previously managed grantmaking administration and was responsible for the company's gift matching and Boeing National Merit Scholarship programs. She also supported the non-u.s. grantmaking program. Before joining Boeing, Sweeney was director of logistics and managed the office of a startup technology company, Chicago-based Inkindex, an online resource that facilitates the donation of corporate excess inventory to nonprofit organizations. In this role, she created systems and processes, including logistics, accounting, marketing and general office management. Sweeney graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After her graduation, she was awarded the Karyn Kupcinet International Science Student research fellowship at The Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. She resides in Chicago.
