The NI Squirrel Association Appointment Process 1. Squirrel Leaders must complete the Northern Ireland Squirrel Association Adult Application Form (Appendix 1) OR Northern Ireland Squirrel Association Drey Regular Helper/Occasional Helper Form (Appendix 2) and return to their District Appointments Secretary for signature. The District Appointments Secretary will sign the form and forward to the NI Squirrel Association, NISC, 109 Old Milltown Road, Belfast, BT8 7SP (not to be entered onto Compass). These forms can also be downloaded from www.scoutsni.com/squirrels. See Drey Essentials pages 35-40. 2. AccessNI checking has moved to an online procedure, as follows: Squirrel Leaders must complete the AccessNI Identity Validation Form (Appendix 3). Valid Identification Documents must be produced and shown to one of the following: County / District Commissioner County / District Secretary County / District Appointment Secretary Squirrel Leader or Squirrel Regional Representative A member of NISC Staff. and the form returned to the NI Squirrel Association, NISC, 109 Old Milltown Road, Belfast, BT8 7SP. 3. When the Identity Validation form (Appendix 3) has been received at the NI Squirrel Association, 109 Old Milltown Road, Belfast, BT8 7SP, the Applicant will be issued with the AccessNI Online Application instructions and the PIN number required for the AccessNI Online Application. 4. NI Scout Office will countersign the electronic application and the application forwarded to AccessNI. 5. The applicant is sent a paper copy of their Disclosure certificate and the NI Scout Office are informed if there is information on a certificate. 6. If there is information contained on a certificate the applicant will be written to by the NI Scout Office requesting sight of the original certificate. The NI Scout Office can be contacted to discuss any information contained on the certificate. 7. The Appointments Secretary will be advised of the Disclosure by the NI Scout Office and the remaining Appointments Process will continue at a local level. Drey Regular Helpers are adults who help in the Drey a regular basis, e.g. every week or more than once a month, are listed on the annual census returns and the appropriate membership fee is paid. They must also complete an AccessNI Application Form Occasional Helpers are adults who help in the Drey once every few months or on an outing. They do not need to have AccessNI clearance but must not have unsupervised access to children or young people under 18.
