WELD COUNTY 4-H SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Please refer to the list of scholarships for specific qualifications for each award. Applicants An applicant must: 1. Be currently enrolled and active in a Weld County 4-H Club. (Exception: College students applying for the Norgren, Ben Wilson, Aurora Organic Dairy, Leaders Council or Youth Executive Council Scholarships.) 2. Must have completed at least three (3) years of project work immediately prior to current year of enrollment. 3. Graduating high school seniors will have priority in scholarship selection. Application Only one application is required to be considered for all Weld County 4-H scholarships. Submit a complete application form. Forms are available at the Weld County Extension Office, or by going to www.weld4h.org. An official transcript from the applicant's high school must accompany the application form. Applications must be received by in the Extension Office by 5:00 pm Thursday, March 1, 2018 Winner Selection The Selection Committee will choose winners based on: 4-H project work and 4-H participation (70%) Scope of 4-H work including involvement beyond the club level. Leadership and community service will be taken into consideration. Scholastic performance (20%) School, Community and Extracurricular activities (10%). Use of Scholarship To receive payment, the student must attend a post secondary school the fall term or semester immediately following graduation from high school, and must be enrolled in a program leading to a degree or professional certification. Payment of Scholarship 1. Immediately after completion of registration in a certified post secondary school, the student should notify the Extension Office and is entitled to payment as outlined below. 2. A proof of registration form (provided if a scholarship is awarded) must be mailed to Scholarship Administrator, Weld County Extension Office. For Scholarships above $500, proof of registration forms must be sent at the beginning of each (Fall and Spring) semester. 3. If you meet all qualifications, payment will be made to the Financial Aid Office at your college or university. Scholarships not exceeding $500 will be paid in one installment during Fall term. Scholarships over $500 will be paid in two equal installments, with one payment in the Fall and one payment in the Spring.

Scholarships available: Two $1500 - Paul and Jean Hoshiko Family 4-H Scholarships - Sponsored by Weld County 4-H Foundation. These scholarships will be awarded to outstanding 4-H members based on demonstrated 4-H leadership, community service and 4-H accomplishments. Three - $1000 - Weld County 4-H Foundation Scholarships - Sponsored by Weld County 4-H Foundation. Member may be enrolled in any 4-H project. $375 Leaders Council Scholarship Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation through donations made by Leaders Council. Member may be enrolled in any 4-H project. $500 - Mary C. Barnett Memorial Scholarship - Sponsored by Weld County 4-H Youth Development Council. Member may be enrolled in any 4-H project. $250 - Kenneth & Clarice Benson Memorial 4-H Scholarship - Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation. Member may be enrolled in any 4-H project. $100 - Josh Jarman Memorial 4-H Scholarship - Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation through donations by the Josh Jarman Memorial Fund, in memory of Josh, a former 4-H member. The recipient should show exemplary leadership in 4-H community service. Member may be enrolled in any 4-H project. $500 - Weld County 4-H Executive Council Scholarship - Sponsored by Weld County 4-H Executive Council. Members may be enrolled in any 4-H project. Demonstrated leadership in 4-H activities beyond the local club level will be a major determining factor in selecting recipients. $1000 - Weld County 4-H Family and Consumer Science Scholarship - Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation. Member must be enrolled in a Family and Consumer Science 4-H project. $1000 - Weld County 4-H Agriculture Scholarship - Sponsored by Weld County 4-H Foundation. Member must be enrolled in an agriculture 4-H project. $500 - Greeley Kennel Club 4-H Scholarship - Sponsored by the Greeley Kennel Club. Members must have completed two years of dog obedience in 4-H to be eligible. This scholarship would be renewable for the recipient s second year at college if established criteria are met. Special supplemental page and Greeley Kennel Club judges this scholarship. This scholarship is renewable for one year. Up to four - $500 Weld County 4-H Horse Scholarships Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Horse Council. Eligible applicants must have completed three years of 4-H horse project work. Applicant must be an incoming freshman or be actively enrolled in an accredited institution. Weld County 4-H Horse Council judges this scholarship. $500 Weld County 4-H Dairy Scholarship and $500.00 Alvie Rothe 4-H Dairy Scholarship Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Dairy Advisory Council. Members must be enrolled in the Weld County 4-H Dairy project. Must have completed at least three years of dairy project work immediately prior to current year enrollment. Special supplemental page must be completed and submitted with scholarship application. $300 - Helmut Brunner Memorial 4-H Scholarship - Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation. This scholarship will be awarded to a member enrolled in a 4-H agricultural project and who will be attending Colorado State University.

$500 Weld County 4-H Shooting Sports Scholarship Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Shooting Sports Council. Members must be enrolled in the Weld County Shooting Sports Program and be a graduating senior. Must have completed at least three years of Weld County shooting sports project work immediately prior to current year enrollment. Special supplemental page must be completed and submitted with scholarship application. Shooting Sports committee judges this scholarship. $500 Gene Inloes Memorial 4-H Livestock Judging Scholarship - Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation. Members must have participated in the Weld County 4-H Livestock Judging program for three years. Special supplemental page must be completed and submitted with scholarship application. Five - $500 Aurora Organic Dairy High School Scholarships - Sponsored by Aurora Organic Dairy. Member may be enrolled in any 4-H project. High School and College students who meet the criteria are eligible for the following scholarships: Two - $500 Weld County 4-H Youth Executive Council Leadership Award Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Youth Executive Council. Must be a High School senior or College Student in their first or second year in good standing. Must have served and been active on the Weld County Youth Executive Council for 3 years. Special supplemental page must be completed and submitted with scholarship. $1000 Dorothy Martin Zabka Memorial Scholarship for a High School Senior or College Student Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation through a donation in the memory of Dorothy Martin Zabka. Must have at least four years of project work in the Weld County 4-H program. Must be a high school senior or a college student in good standing at a two or four year college or university at the time the scholarship is paid in the Fall semester. Eligible college students must be enrolled in a college program leading to a degree in an agricultural discipline. College students who meet the criteria are eligible for the following scholarships: $1000 - Norgren Family 4-H Scholarship for College Students - Sponsored by the Norgren family. Must have at least four years of project work in the Weld County 4-H program. Must be a full time student in good standing who has completed one year of college at a four year college or university at the time the scholarship is paid in the Fall, majoring in an agricultural degree program. Preference will be given to upper classmen. Junior college students will be eligible with evidence of intent to transfer to a four year institution with an Associate Degree in Agriculture. Preference is given to upper classmen. $1000 - Ben Wilson Memorial 4-H Scholarship for College Students - Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation through a donation in the memory of Ben Wilson. Must have at least four years of project work in the Weld County 4-H program. Must have completed one year of college and be a student in good standing at a two or four year college or university at the time the scholarship is paid, majoring in an agricultural degree program. $350 Leaders Council Scholarship for College Students Sponsored by the Weld County 4-H Foundation through donations made by Leaders Council. Member may be enrolled in any major. Five - $500 Aurora Organic Dairy College Scholarships - Sponsored by Aurora Organic Dairy. Member may be enrolled in any major.
