Baylor 12. Oklahoma 36. Texas 39. Oklahoma State The two WCWS tickets punched by league teams marks the eighth occurance in conference history that two or more teams have earned a spot on the big stage. The last time two league teams competed in the College World Series was in 2014 when Baylor and Oklahoma both advanced to Oklahoma City. Additionally, the last time two Big 12 teams played against each other was in 2013 (Oklahoma vs. Texas). Oklahoma recorded its sixth straight and 10th overall Big 12 softball regular season title this season. The team s 17-1 Big 12 record marks the second consecutive year with only one loss. Baylor s Gia Rodoni produced two no-hitters during Regional play, becoming the first pitcher to throw two in the same NCAA tournament and the first in Baylor history to throw one in postseason action. Three Big 12 individuals rank among the top 30 in the nation in batting average, including two in the top 20: 9. Nicole Mendes, OU (.438) 20. Lindsey Cargill, BU (.430) 30. Kyla Walker, BU (.422) The league went a combined 13-4 against NFCA ranked opponents during the NCAA postseason, including an 8-1 record for teams entering the World Series. Big 12 Player of the Year Shay Knighten (OU) closed the regular season with a Big 12-leading eight home runs, 21 runs, 27 RBI and a.885 slugging percentage. This season, the Big 12 Conference hosted its first softball championship in seven years. The Sooners were crowned champions, earning their second straight postseason title (2010). @BaylorSoftball @CycloneSB @KUSoftball @OU_Softball @CowgirlSB @TexasSoftball @TTUSB Contact: Rachel Coe 469.524.1039 rcoe@big12sports.com May 31, 2017 2017 SOFTBALL C o n f e r e n c e Sta n d i n g s CONFERENCE OVERALL School W L T Pct. For Oklahoma State alum Yves Batoba, sports taught him about life - overcoming adversity, focus and drive to succeed and teamwork. In part due to his athletic scholarship, he has been able to share with others the same experiences he had by working with the NCAA and striving to create a football league in his native Congo. After dealing with the loss of his father during the summer of freshman year, Denzel Goolsby of K-State was able to find a family unit with his team and has used their strength to achieve success on and off the field.
