Page 6 The Home Page Speaking of literacy... SL Branch wins grant funding to promote childhood literacy & family reading The South Lafourche Branch has won an $800 grant from Entergy that will allow it to help foster childhood literacy and families reading together. The Lafourche Parish Public Library is partnering with Turn the Page, a region-wide literacy campaign intended to create a positive awareness of literacy. We re one of several libraries in the region participating. Check our website for forthcoming information about our involvement. For more information about Turn the Page, visit http://letsturnthepage.com. With the grant, the library will conduct a minireading program for children ages 3 to 6. After reading five books (with help from Mom, Dad, Granny, etc.), children earn a free Dr. Seuss book, in anticipation of Read Across America in March, which celebrates Dr. Seuss birthday. This program has a cut-off limit, so registration is required to participate. More info is coming. Look out for our Dr. Seuss programs in March. Featured Programs for Adults Victorian Art with a Cajun Twist: Local artist Sabina Miller will demo how to make crepe poinsettias dipped in wax for the holidays. December 4, 5 p.m. Book Talk with Author Anna Bradford: Enjoy a meet and greet with inspirational author Anna Bradford, who will visit the library to discuss her three books dealing with the parables of life. Ms. Bradford will be available for book signings. December 13, 2 p.m. Both programs will be held at the.

Page 7 Vol. 6, Issue 12 Some things just bear repeating The Lafourche Parish Public Library would like to thank all those who voted in support of the library in the November 16, 2013 election. Without our existing funding, we would not be able to continue providing the same level of service to the residents of Lafourche Parish, that level of service that our library users have come to expect.
