Pre-Conference Speakers Tony Pangere supports company operations and forms corporate policies to maximize results. For over 10 years, he has developed and implemented comprehensive safety programs for all Pangere employees. Training programs for employees and supervisors are formulated and initiated by Tony. He is a member of the Executive Leadership Team which drives the organization to achieve higher standards of excellence through innovative construction practices. Tony received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Roosevelt University and holds many certifications Donald Hancock has over 30 years of tradework experience. His leadership supports coordination and supervision of corporate safety, health, and environmental protection functions. He assists in developing and implementing company safety training programs. Donald performs documentation and inspection of jobsites to remain in compliance with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM). Donald is a United Brotherhood of Carpenters Jouneyman and holds various certifications. Shawn Richards, BS is currently the Outbreak Supervisor at the Indiana State Department of Health. Shawn has been employed at the Indiana State Department of Health since 1999 and has also served as the respiratory epidemiologist and a public health investigator. In 2016 she supervised the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A H7N8 health monitoring of exposed workers in Dubois County, IN, Influenza and MRSA pneumonia outbreak in a jail population and a meningitis exposure in an elementary school. Prior to being the outbreak supervisor was the lead epidemiologist in several respiratory outbreaks. She developed and executed an interactive influenza prevention campaign with the Indianapolis Colts football team titled: Join Blue Prevent the Flu. Shawn has previously served as a mentor for the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologist (CSTE) fellow program. She is currently the primary supervisor for thecdc s Public Health Associate Program. lic Heath Associate Program. Dr. Sara Blosser, PhD, D (ABMM) received her B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Louisville, and Ph.D. in Immunology and Infectious Disease from Montana State University. She was a clinical microbiology fellow at the National Institutes of Health's Clinical Center from 2013 until 2015, when she joined the Indiana State Department of Health. She became a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology in 2016. Currently, Dr. Blosser serves as the Director for the Division of Clinical Microbiology at the Indiana State Department of Health Laboratories. DJ Shannon, MPH received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from Indiana University Bloomington. DJ currently serves as the Antimicrobial Resistance Epidemiologist at the Indiana State Department of Health. Since joining the ISDH, DJ has served as a subject matter expert panelist at the 2017 Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) Annual Conference for the containment of targeted and novel MDROs. He has also co-authored position statements that set the national case definition for CP-CRE and Candida auris. DJ is also a member of the CDC s Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Task Force.
Conference Speakers Peter B. Graves, BSN, RN, CNOR serves as Director of Clinical Outcomes Management and Education for the Irrimax Corporation. In his role, he serves as a clinical liaison on study and research initiatives and is a subject matter specialist for clinicians and for the entire Irrimax organization. Peter graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BSN. He is also a certified operating room nurse. has authored and collaborated on multiple papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored chapters on prevention of surgical site infections in Perioperative Safety by Donna Watson and hand off communication for the Competency & Credentialing Institute's CNOR Study Guide. Peter was a chapter reviewer of Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery. He has presented internationally and is an active professional with AORN. He has chaired and served as a member of several national committees and is a past national AORN board member. Richard Van Enk, Ph.D., CIC, FSHEA graduated from Calvin College in 1977 with a BA in Biology. He earned a MS in Biology from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 1979. He earned a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology from the University of Kansas in 1988. He taught biology at Calvin College and Hope College in Michigan. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical and Public Health Microbiology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. He served as Chief Microbiologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Dayton Ohio. He is currently the Director of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology at Bronson Healthcare Group, Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dr. Van Enk has been on the faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences of Western Michigan University as an Assistant Professor. He is the cocoordinator of the microbiology section of the Western Michigan University School of Medicine. Dr. Van Enk s areas of interest include clinical microbiology, antibiotics, antibiotic susceptibility testing, antimicrobial stewardship, reducing the risk of infection in hospitalized patients, and the role of hospital design and the hospital environment in the spread of infection. Kari L. Kuebler, RN, BSN received her Associates of Nursing in 1999, and Bachelors of Nursing from Indiana State University in 2001. Her nineteen year career as a Registered Nurse has included inpatient psychiatric hospital care, cardiac progressive care, medical intensive care, and infection prevention. She has been in her current role as a Surveillance Specialist for six years, with a focus on CLABSI, CAUTI, VAE, and pedsvap. She has served as the APIC Indiana NHSN liaison since 2014, and sat on the APIC Indiana board from 2015 to 2017. Her expertise has allowed her to work with the CDC to influence changes to NHSN HAI criteria as well as assist in the development of the VAE calculator and CMS validation tools. He
Conference Speakers Lauren Fish, MPH, BSN, RN, CIC has dedicated her professional career to advance the science of infection prevention within hospital settings. Laurie currently serves as the Executive Program Director for Infection Prevention with Indiana University Health. Lauren s passion includes mentoring novice Infection Preventionists, prevention and control of outbreaks and implementation science. Lauren had the privilege of partnering with the CDC to develop a hospital wide cohort unit to interrupt a VRE outbreak which was recognized by the Joint Commission as a runner up for the Codman Awards. Michelle Steinway, BSN, RN, CCRN is a bedside nurse at IU Health West Hospital in the Intensive/Progressive Care Unit. During her seventeen years as an RN and with the IU Health System, Michelle has developed a love for evidence based practice and currently serves as chair of West Hospital's Innovative Practice Council. As a direct caregiver, Michelle practices proper hand hygiene and advocates for best practices. Rebecca Masters, RN, MSN, CNL, CPHQ is currently a Quality Coordinator at IU Health Saxony Hospital. Throughout her career she has been dedicated to promoting evidenced based practice, improving patient outcomes and assuring positive patient experiences. She also has a strong focus on enhancement of staff satisfaction and creating positive, collaborate work environments. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Detroit Mercy, Detroit, MI and a Bachelor s of Science in Nursing from Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio. She is certified as a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL), and as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
