Completely integrated anesthesia information management system Optum Anesthesia Information Management System (AIMS) helps anesthesia care providers completely and accurately chart a patient s progress throughout the surgical encounter, from preop through PACU. This advanced AIMS helps support the hospital s quality mission and effectively empowers anesthesia providers by supplying the necessary information to support administrative needs such as utilization and service line analysis, compliance and quality reporting and billing. The Optum AIMS system is designed to help OR clinicians implement best practices with configurable software that supports their workflow. Optum Anesthesia integrates with the Optum Perioperative suite or with other OR systems, and is interoperable with all major EHRs. Our unique Physician Adoption Program offers peer-to-peer guidance and support for the anesthesia team, streamlining the move from manual processes to an electronic medical record. Our physicians are experienced in performing AIMS implementations and work closely with your providers during and after implementation, helping ensure success at go-live and beyond. Optum Anesthesia, when integrated as part of a hospital s comprehensive perioperative automation strategy, helps clinicians improve care quality and patient outcomes. The system also has a direct effect on the efficiency of hospital staff and processes, costs, billing, regulatory compliance and risk management. Optum Anesthesia capabilities include: Integration with Optum OR Manager and other OR systems Preoperative patient management Preoperative clinical decision support Intuitive preop patient checklist management Web-based patient intake portal Configurable documentation templates Medical device connectivity Advanced patient/case tracking Clinical decision support User-defined rules Automated notifications PACU documentation Automation of supply and pro fee billing Analytics to help run your practice Quality reporting Standard AQI report extract Mobility Physician Adoption Program Integration with HIS and financial systems Optum Anesthesia 3

Streamline preoperative workflow Patients scheduled for surgery can enter their medical history securely online, at their convenience. Comorbidities are captured and integrated with the record, facilitating review and completion of the preoperative assessment by preop clinic staff and anesthesia providers. Preoperative clinical decision support is applied to the patient s medical history which generates patient / case specific teaching instructions, diagnostic testing and consult recommendations and a customized set of administrative tasks that need to be completed prior to and on the day of surgery. These teaching instructions, testing / consult recommendations and administrative tasks combine to create a complete preop checklist for the patient, helping to ensure all preop tasks are completed in a timely manner and key steps are not missed or unnecessary steps / tests performed. This results in fewer day of surgery delays and cancellations while ensuring the most efficient preop process possible. Automated surgical authorization Quality measure tracking with Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) integration Reporting on patient populations and postoperative results Increase quality of anesthesia record Optum Anesthesia is a centralized clinical documentation system creating complete electronic records including medical history, labs, allergies and meds, physical exam, procedure information, anesthetic plan and assessment. Physiologic data captured from medical devices frees anesthesia providers to focus more on patient care. The system generates structured and legible clinical documentation, reducing the risk of errors from non-standard documentation and illegible notes. Configurable procedure templates reflect institutional requirements. Clients can modify forms when requirements change. Comprehensive recommended documentation practices for patient records and quality reporting leverages nearly 20 years of Optum customers best practices, accelerating compliance through updated clinical content without compromising existing records. Templates and macros document meds, fluids and events Library of interfaces link to multiple medical devices Configurable links to other clinical systems while maintaining patient and user context Required and recommended fields help ensure compliance with documentation guidelines Clinical decision support options enable quick response to changes in patient information. Site-configurable rules trigger automatic notifications Care Beacon prompts for SCIP compliance, scores, assessments, nursing care activities 4

Advanced patient tracking improves the patient / family experience Optum Patient Tracking optimizes communication and patient flow throughout the perioperative process with intelligent tracking of patients and resources while providing proactive notifications to ensure that patients move efficiently through the OR. This intuitive approach enables staff to make adjustments in the surgery schedule before bottlenecks occur and helps hospitals to maximize OR time and efficiently manage resources. Incorporates predictive carepaths, including the expected elapsed time between checkpoints Automatically notifies staff via email, text messaging and/or pager when checkpoints are missed Enables surgeon offices to track patient progress through the OR Increases throughput, reduces phone calls and saves staff time, resulting in improved patient, family and staff satisfaction Support quality initiatives Optum Anesthesia supports various hospital- and physician-required quality initiatives such as SCIP, PQRS, Medicare and other quality reporting initiatives such as the AQI. Provides reporting for hospital quality assurance departments Tracks cases by anesthesia provider and performs concurrency checks on caregivers Captures and reports core measures to regulatory and accrediting agencies Meets Joint Commission mandates for each patient encounter record Provides standard report extract for submission to AQI (Anesthesia Quality Institute) Increase anesthesia charge capture and professional fee billing Complete, accurate and legible case documentation meets anesthesia documentation standards, and captures all anesthetics and amounts used plus other supplies. Clinicians produce standard professional fee billing output for transmission to third-party billing companies. Increases reimbursement resulting from documentation of comorbidities Aids compliance with standards of care and capture of required data for billing Automatically abstracts and transmits billing information from the anesthetic record Produces output via an HL7 interface to 3 rd party billing companies Summarizes intraoperative events to facilitate postop care and provide billing details Gain actionable information and intelligence about anesthesia care Optum analytics empower the anesthesia department by transforming collected data into business, operational and medical knowledge. Reports help departments manage resource utilization, clinical productivity, service line analysis and other administrative needs. Best practice report library includes case milestones, quality assessments and physiologic data Customizable reports to facilitate research Reports distributed in a variety of formats Physician Adoption Program helps ensure success Experienced clinically practicing anesthesiologists from institutions that have implemented Optum Anesthesia work with your anesthesia providers to speed adoption. Helps overcome anxiety about implementing and using an automated system Enables anesthesia providers to interact with peers who speak their language Instills confidence working with seasoned physician users Optum Anesthesia 5

Optum Anesthesia helps anesthesia care providers manage the large volumes of important data created in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative stages of surgical care. The system assembles key data for a complete overview of a patient s status, while providing efficient information management and tracking of the anesthesia care process. By combining electronic anesthesia documentation as part of a comprehensive perioperative automation solution, hospitals benefit by having a more complete, accurate and legible record of the surgical episode. This enhances accountability, improves charge capture and reimbursement, helps reduce liability risks and offers hospitals the best opportunity to optimize clinical documentation, financial and operational results. 6
