Go Generic. You can save money on prescriptions by getting a generic equivalent of your medication. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, generic drugs must have the same active ingredients, strength, dosage form, safety, quality and performance as their brand counterparts, and generics usually cost about half as much as brand-name drugs. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Preferred Medication List is a guide for members with three-tier prescription plans. Quarterly, pharmacists and medical professionals review the list for safe, cost-effective medications and to reflect changes in the availability of certain drugs. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if a generic is available when you receive a prescription. 63656-0905

Stay within Your Network. Your out-of-pocket expenses will be lower if you use a provider participating in NetworkBlue*. To choose a physician or hospital within NetworkBlue, go online at www. to retrieve the most up-to-date provider listings. The online provider directory enables you to search for physicians by certain attributes. For example, you can search for a doctor by the county or city in which you live, by the physician s name, specialty, language spoken or the name of the doctor s practice. We also provide access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to information that will help you make decisions on treatment centers. *NetworkBlue is one of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida s preferred provider networks made up of independent hospitals, physicians and ancillary providers. 63776-0905

Use an Urgent Care Center. If you should need to seek medical attention when your doctor s office is closed, a nearby urgent care center may be just the solution. They are open on weekday evenings and most weekends to assist you with non-emergency care. Selecting an urgent care center for non-emergency care can also save you time and money. In most cases, the copayment is the same as visiting a specialist, which can be less than an emergency room visit. To find the urgent care center nearest you: Go online at www. Select Provider Directory Scroll down, in the Category section and select Urgent Care Center 63777-0905

Use Quest Diagnostics for Lab Services. Should you require lab work, BlueOptions members receive the highest benefit levels when using Quest Diagnostics for outpatient laboratory services. Services are covered at 100% when provided by Quest. If services are received from a non-network laboratory, you may have to pay the fees out of your pocket. For patient service center locations, call Quest Diagnostics at (800) 377-8448 or visit their website at www.questdiagnostics.com. 63778-0905

Take Advantage of Health-Related Discounts. We are pleased to offer a program of discounted products and value-added services called BlueComplements. BlueComplements is available to you automatically as a plan member at no additional premium cost. Go online at www. and under the Member section go to Discount Programs for more information on: Hearing aid discounts Weight management programs Lasik surgery savings Bike helmet discounts Fitness centers Vision care discounts Contact lens mail order Alternative medicine The products, services and information provided through the BlueComplements program are made available as a courtesy to our members and are not a part of insurance coverage, and are not a substitute for medical advice.
