As co-presidents of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), it is our pleasure to invite you to join us for the AANP 2014 National Conference, June 17 22, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. This year s theme, Stronger Together.Improving Health, is woven throughout the conference sessions, workshops and events and promises to be everything you have come to expect from an AANP conference and more! Featuring an expansive program of clinical activities that are a hallmark of this premier national NP conference, the 2014 conference is designed to meet the needs of attendees from NP students to the advanced NP. To get the conference off to a great start, two exciting speakers have been invited for the opening general session on Wednesday, June 18. Dr. Mary Wakefield, administrator, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), will share her insightful perspectives on the changes in the health care system and how these changes impact the health of our nation. This topic is of special interest to NPs who are concerned about the availability and continuity of high quality care for all populations. Dave debronkart, also known as e-patient Dave, brings a lively discussion to the opening session with his thoughts on patient engagement as the means to transform health and health care. A blogger, author, speaker, student of disruptive innovation, cancer survivor, policy advisor and an experienced member and leader of online communities, Dave provides new ideas on how patients and providers can be stronger together improving health. Two days of dedicated workshops, Tuesday, 6/17 and Sunday, 6/22, will provide an increased opportunity for attendees to enhance their knowledge and skills. ImpORTANT CONfERENCE features Based on surveys and feedback from national conference registrants, AANP continually looks to enhance the national conference experience and offerings. Other Presentations In addition, there are podium presentations, poster presentations, regional meetings and interest forums that add to the variety of the many session opportunities. Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) Due to the success of last year s format, the FCCS course instructors will maintain the new course structure to enhance the learning environment and accommodate more registrants. FCCS will be held at The Inn at Opryland, a Gaylord Hotel (across the street from Gaylord Opryland). AANP housing is available at The Inn and additional information will be available on your registration receipt. Exhibit Hall AANP Store We will once again provide a store so attendees can purchase their favorite name or logo apparel and items such as key chains, mugs, pens, etc. To visit the store throughout the year go to aanpstore.com. Market Place To continue broadening the exhibit hall experience, the Market Place which appeals to attendees personal interests will be available. CONfERENCE INfORmATION PODIUM AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS Abstracts selected for research/clinical/practice (podium) and poster presentations feature the latest evidence in the field. A detailed schedule listing individual podium and poster presentations will be available in the 2014 Conference Guide that is distributed on-site to registered attendees. These limited CE symposia and non-ce product theaters are funded entirely by the supporting/sponsoring company, allowing AANP to offer some conference registrants complimentary access to a limited number of CE and non-ce educational presentations. Due to their educational focus and guideline requirements, attendance is restricted to only conference registrants.to expedite processing attendees into these events, registration/admission will occur at the entrance of each scheduled event, on a first-come first-serve basis. There will be no pre-registration. When available, event description notices for these IS events will be posted on the National Conference page on the AANP website aanp.org, on signage located throughout the conference area, and in the 2014 Conference Guide each registered attendee receives at conference registration check-in. CONTINUING EDUCATION / PHARMACOLOGY CONTACT HOURS The program is pending approval for continuing education (CE) and pharmacology credit by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Accreditation Program. Up to 42 contact hours of CE will be offered at the 2014 National Conference. Most sessions will have the number of contact hours submitted for approval listed near the educational session category in the brochure when available. Approved pharmacology credit will be posted on the conference website when available. All NP state regulatory agencies and certifying bodies recognize and accept AANP CE credit. PRESENTATION HANDOUTS Presentation handouts will be available online and the access link will be emailed to all conference registrants no later than early June 2014. No Internet access is provided in the session rooms. Prior to attending the sessions, registrants may print the materials or store them on an electronic device. NAME BADGES Registered Attendees: Registered attendees MUST wear their official conference name badge at all times to access conference events. Guests of Registered Attendees: Complimentary guest badges for persons age 16 and older are available at the AANP Registrant Check-In. ID with proof of age is required if requested by AANP management and/or security staff. This guest badge allows entrance into the Exhibit Hall only. CHILDREN Children (including infants) under the age of 16 are not allowed in conference sessions or the Exhibit Hall due to safety concerns, audio recording and maintaining an appropriate learning environment. CONFERENCE ATTIRE Attire at the national conference is business casual. The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center strives to keep rooms at a comfortable temperature, but layered clothing is strongly suggested. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended. FORCE MAJEURE In the event that AANP should find it necessary to cancel or postpone the AANP 2014 National Conference for any reason, including but not limited to low registration, strikes, acts of nature, war, terrorist acts or other circumstances beyond AANP s control, the AANP s liability shall be limited to refund of registration fees paid to AANP. REGISTRATION AANP MEMBERS/REGISTRATION CATEGORIES If you are not an AANP member, we encourage you to join in order to take advantage of the great member conference rate. AANP members receive a discount on their conference registration fees. NP Members have successfully completed an NP program and/or maintain certification as NPs with a nationally approved certifying body. Associate Members are non-nps who are interested in fostering the objectives of AANP and the NP profession. Student Members are currently enrolled in an entry-level program that prepares nurse practitioners. Post Master s Student Members are nurse practitioners who have returned to school for further education. Career Starter Members are recent NP graduates who have completed one year as an AANP student member. FEES On-Site: On-site registration will be available if session capacities have not been reached. If available, on-site registration will open starting on Monday, June 16, 2014, from 4:30 PM - 8:00 PM, local time in the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, Delta Lobby. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICIES Cancellations: All cancellations require written notification to AANP at admin@aanp.org. Refunds: Refunds on paid registrations will be issued for written cancellation requests received, via email, fax, or mail no later than Monday, May 5, 2014. All refunds will be issued for the paid registration minus a $50 administrative fee or a $25 administrative fee for a student registration. Refunds will not be issued after Monday, May 5, 2014. Returned Checks: An administrative fee of $35 will be charged for all checks returned to AANP for insufficient funds. No Shows: If you do not cancel in writing to AANP and do not attend, you still are responsible for payment. Session assignments occur when the registration is entered and payment has been confirmed. Receipts including session assignments will be emailed to the registrants. This hotel is Nashville s premier hotel offering guests all the excitement and energy of Music City under one spectacular roof. Other hotels will be added to site as they are added to the AANP Housing Center. HOTEL RESERVATIONS You MUST register for the conference BEFORE you can make your hotel reservation. After registering you will receive housing information on the registration receipt. Hotel reservations must be made on or before May 27, 2014. RATES Rates listed below are based on availability only. Additional guest fees, taxes, etc. will apply to these rates as applicable. Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center $169.00 HOTEL DEPOSITS/CANCELLATION POLICY Hotel Deposit: When making your hotel reservation, a deposit of one (1) night room rate plus applicable taxes are required to guarantee accommodations for each room reserved. Each individual deposit will be credited to an individual invoice. Checks or major credit cards are accepted to guarantee the reservation. Early Departure: The hotel will apply an early check-out fee of $65 to a guest s invoice who departs earlier than the planned check-out date. Cancellation Policy: Policies are hotel specific.
