This trophy was presented to the Navy Department anonymously in memory of the late Lieutenant Edmin Francis Conway, U.S.Navy, who commanded the U.S. Naval Reseryc Aviation Base, Floyd BenEett Field., Brooklyn, N. Y., fmm 24 June, 1932, to 17 January, 1933, and who died on 17 January, 1933, in an aviation accident. The trophy is awarded annually to the Naval Reserve aviation base given the hihest final merit by the Naval Reserve Inspection Board. This trophy was presented to the Navy Department by Mr. Harry F. Guggenhcim (a Naval Reserve aviator during the World War) in 192'7, and, at his suggestion, named in memory of the late Lieutenant Commander Noel Davis, U.S.Nava1 Rcsemo., promoting the interests of naval aviation and who, also, at the tb of his death, was on 8ctPve duty in %he Navy Departwnt in connection with Naval Reserve Aviation. He was killed in an aeroplane crash while preparing for a transr Atlantic flidt.
