Founded in 2012, Branksome Hall Asia is the sister school of Branksome Hall Canada, an independent girl s school in Toronto founded in 1903 and consistently ranked as one of the best boarding schools in the world. BRANKSOME HALL ASIA SCHOOL PROFILE Curriculum Highlights All students, from Junior Kindergarten Prep through Grade 12, follow the IB curriculum: Primary Years Program (JK Prep-Grade 5) Middle Years Program (Grades 6-10), Diploma Program (Grades 11-12) Why the IB Program? This rigorous liberal arts program is viewed as the gold standard by universities worldwide. Community Involvement We challenge our students to develop new skills, to learn more about themselves, and to make a difference in the communities in which they live and learn. At Branksome Hall Asia, we believe that identity development deserves equal standing with intellectual development. Exchange Opportunities Each year all Grade 9 students from Branksome Hall Asia and Branksome Hall Canada embark on a reciprocal living and learning experience between the sister schools. Local and Global Community Service Community Service Learning initiatives stem from the firm belief that the role of students extends beyond the classroom walls. In Grade 11, students begin the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The IB curriculum is a rigorous program, demanding in breadth and depth. The IB Diploma requires students to study subjects from a variety of different disciplines, three at the Higher Level and three at the Standard Level. Examinations are taken at the end of the two-year program. The Theory of Knowledge course, the Extended Essay (a 4,000-word independent research paper), and participation in the Creativity, Action, Service program are also required. The International Baccalaureate uses a seven-point scale for each of the six subjects. Students can gain three additional Diploma points for other core requirements, for a total of 45 points. The IB Diploma is awarded to students who earn 24 points or more, given that all requirements are met. IB Grading Due to our rigorous and challenging academic standards, we do not rank students. Beyond the IB curriculum K-12 and the IB Diploma requirements, all Branksome Hall Asia graduates will complete: Instruction and educational engagement in the integrated STEM V program and facility The Canadian-Korean Grade 9 exchange program (University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management, Outdoor Leadership which benefits all students as they discover their strengths, their broader community, and the world.
