Village Happenings Pickleball Clinic Join us for the hottest new game sweeping the country on the Village of Patchogue s brand new Pickleball Courts! Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, racquetball and ping pong. Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. This course will prepare beginners for open court play with others of similar ability. Loaner paddles and balls will be available for use. Proper sportswear and sneakers/court shoes are required. 16 players limited. Ages 21 and up. Class will be held for three sessions. Our local parks and greenspaces are places for families to engage in Nature Play while enjoying the love of gardening and the great outdoors. Classes are kept small, and are aimed at children ages 3-5 years of age. This is a 4 week program. A Message from Village Hall Dear Resident, The Village of Patchogue has a rich history of providing the best in recreation for our residents. This year is no different and I commend our Parks and Recreation staff for what I am sure will turn out to be one of our best summer s ever. Our $5,000,000 village-wide parks renovation initiative continues to move forward. In addition, we were recently awarded a $2,550,000 New York State Grant. This will cover the cost of the removal of the bulkhead at Shorefront Park and we will then replace it with a more natural Living Shoreline that is more environmentally sound and will better control flooding in the nearby community. We are proud to announce the completed total renovation of the Roberto Clemente Field at Waldbauer Park and the resurfacing of the tennis and pickle ball courts at Four Sisters Park which we started two years ago. Father Tortora and Belzak Parks have received complete makeovers, and are now open for families to enjoy. The total renovation of Shorefront Park and Waldbauer Park will be completed in the years ahead, as well as many new improvements to our Recreation Center and Patchogue Beach Club. The future will also bring a new 9-11 Memorial Park on Maiden Lane and a Fireman s Memorial Park on Rider Avenue. Finally, if you are new to the village or a longtime resident, please take the time to go through the pages of this guide and discover all the great programs and special events that Patchogue Parks and Recreation department has to offer. The Recreation Department offers residents of all ages many fun and enjoyable opportunities. Our parks and ball fields allow you a diverse set of options for outdoor activities. This 2018 guide is an overview of events, activities, and entertainment for you and your family. This past winter, we have worked hard to provide you and your family with a wide assortment of instructional classes and activities to enjoy. The Village has recently completed the restoration of two parks; Father Tortora, located on Central Avenue and Belzak Park, located on Lakeland Avenue. We encourage you to bring your family and friends and explore all of the new amenities that our parks have to offer. MARK YOUR CALENDARS: We will once again be holding our Pickle ball Clinic at Rider Avenue Tennis Courts offered to those 18 and up. Enjoy some of Long Island s top cover bands with your family and friends, while attending our 14th Annual Free Summer Concert Series at Shorefront Park. Don t forget... grab your bats and join us for our 35th Annual Old Timer s Softball Game. Like to fish? Come on down to Mascot Dock as we cast our rods and take part in our 35th Annual Snapper Derby remember this event is for both kids and adults. You supply the fishing pole, and J & J Bait and Tackle will supply the rest. LOOK WHAT S NEW: Here are some of the new programs and events to look out for this summer.
