The Foundation was formed in early 1994 and has issued approximately $260,000 in engineering and chemistry scholarships over the years to students attending the Colorado School of Mines or the University of Denver. The aim of our program is to encourage qualified students with the talent and commitment to succeed to pursue careers in engineering or chemistry. Accordingly, the Foundation is extremely interested in each applicant's individual goals, academic achievements, community involvement, work ethics, etc. and may require an interview during the selection process. Although the scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, continuing scholarship recipients who maintain academic, community and work standards will receive preferential consideration for their sophomore, junior and senior years. SCHOLARSHIPS IN ENGINEERING AND/OR CHEMISTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF DENVER AND COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: APRIL 20, 2015 The following guidelines have been established for application for scholarship for high school seniors and continuing undergraduate college students who intend to pursue a career in engineering and/or chemistry at the University of Denver and Colorado School of Mines. Please read these instructions carefully and fulfill all of the requirements prior to the submission of your application request. If questions arise that your counselor cannot answer, please contact the Cibrowski Family Foundation at the address or telephone number shown below. Scholarships Scholarships will be awarded on a nondiscriminatory basis to qualified recipients based on academic achievement, community service and work ethic by the Cibrowski Family Foundation. Scholarships, which include tuition and books, shall be awarded to the following: University of Denver (One freshman scholarship) Freshman $3,000, Sophomore $3,000, Junior $3,000, Senior $3,000 Colorado School of Mines (One freshman scholarship) Freshman $ 1,000, Sophomore $ 1,000, Junior $ 1,000, Senior $ 1,000 Scholarships must be applied for on an annual basis and preference will be awarded to prior scholarship recipients who continue to maintain academic, community and work standards as established by the Foundation. Recipients must attain a minimum 2.75 grade point average during the fall/winter sessions of the academic year and maintain full-time enrollment in the schools of engineering and/or chemistry to receive funding for the spring session. Student Eligibility Requirements The Foundation wishes to encourage qualified students with the talent and commitment to succeed to pursue careers in engineering and/or chemistry and has established the following criteria for evaluation: Must be a high school senior or undergraduate college student and a citizen of the United States at the time of application. Must have at least a 3.5 grade point average (based on a 4.0 scale) for the 10th and 11th grades or at least a 3.0 accumulated college grade point average for undergraduate college students. Must intend to earn a degree in engineering and/or chemistry and plan to enter the practice of engineering and/or chemistry after graduation. Must be enrolled at the University of Denver or Colorado School of Mines prior to the awarding of the scholarship. High school seniors must have attained minimum test scores on either of the following standardized tests, Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Testing Program (ACT). Test results may not be mixed to obtain minimum thresholds. Verbal/English Math/Quant ACT: 25 29 SAT: 500 600 Evaluation Standards The Foundation will evaluate applications based on individual goals, academic achievements, community service, work ethic, letters of recommendation, etc. in awarding scholarships. Supplemental credit may be awarded for honors, advance placement, college-level courses, community service or unusual circumstances. Finalists may also be scheduled for an interview with representatives of the Foundation. Scholarship recipients will be announced in August 2015.
