Happy Spring! Some of you may have orders to new duty stations or may be transitioning out of the military. Others face deployments or are anticipating homecoming. No matter what lies ahead, life in the military is always full of change and to help Service members and their families adapt and adjust, the Fleet & Family Support Center (FFSC) proudly offers a wide range of informational resources. This quarterly publication lists upcoming FFSC programs and workshops, which are also presented by special request to commands and family groups. We offer some services in one-on-one consultation particularly for challenging relocation issues. Also, FFSC assists with deployment planning, and provides support throughout that deployment through our Ombudsman Program, various workshops and counseling services. We can also assist your command and families in preparing for a happy homecoming. Additionally, FFSC s accredited financial counselors (AFC's) deliver expertise on budgeting, investing, and many more important financial issues. Our Career Services staff is available to assist with resume writing, finding federal employment and navigating the job search process, to include the Transition Goals, Planning Success (TGPS) Program. Also, we feature several of our more popular workshops via webinar so that you can attend from wherever suits your needs. These workshops include Parenting Tips, Car Buying and Leasing and Space-A Travel. April: Awareness & Appreciation Each April, the entire U.S. Navy joins the worldwide campaign for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM). The campaign's goal is to stop the myths surrounding sexual assault and to raise awareness that sexual assault affects us all. FFSC will present and support a number of community events on our various installations. Visit our web page (www.navylifesw.com/sandiego/families/ffsc) and our Facebook (www.facebook.com/ffscsd), or contact your installation's Fleet & Family Support Center to learn about events like the SAPR Cup and SAPR 5K Run/ Walk. Navy families experience multiple, unique stressors. These include deployments, relocation, financial hardships and lack of adequate social support. For some parents, these stressful situations can lead to child abuse. FFSC offers New Parent Support Home Visitors, Parenting workshops and counseling services to assist. We also offer a wide variety of Life Skills programs like anger management, stress management and effective communication. NBSD - Naval Base San Diego NBC - Naval Base Coronado This quarter, we celebrate military children and spouses. Take time to thank them for their sacrifices and let them know they re appreciated and supported. It is a time to remind ourselves that it is not just the Service members who serve, it is also their families. And remember: The end of the school year and the start of summer fun are on the way!
