ohio state baseball points of pride 128th Baseball is the oldest sport at Ohio State University. The program started in 1881 and the 2011 season will be the 128th in the history of the sport at OSU. 1of 24 Ohio State is one of only 24 teams to have won a College World Series championship. The Buckeyes have competed in four College World Series. 1st Springfield, Ohio native Greg Beals is in his first season as Ohio State head coach. The 17-year collegiate coach led Ball State the past eight years. 11 19 Number of NCAA tournament appearances Ohio State has made. The total includes two NCAA Regionals and two NCAA Super Regionals at Bill Davis Stadium. 15th The 2011 season marks the 15th anniversary of the opening of Bill Davis Stadium, an event that set in motion facility and program upgrades throughout the Midwest. 23 All-time Big Ten Conference baseball championships for Ohio State. The Scarlet and Gray has won 15 Big Ten championships and eight Big Ten tournament titles. Ohio State has had only 11 known head coaches in its first 127 seasons of play. First-year coach Greg Beals is only the fourth head coach to lead the program in the last 60 years. He is assisted by Mike Stafford, Chris Holick and Josh Newman. Monday will typically be an off day. Ohio State utilizes the indoor practice field at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, the indoor hitting cages beneath the team offices on the third base side of the field and, of course, Bill Davis Stadium for its practices. Weekly Interviews Tuesday afternoon before practice is typically reserved for on-site media availability. Please contact Jerry Emig in the OSU Athletics Communications office to arrange all interviews with coaches and student-athletes. Please call at least one day in advance to allow enough time to make arrangements. Postgame Procedures Postgame interviews will begin approximately 10 minutes after the final out of the game. Visiting coaches and players are available beneath the stands outside of the visiting team locker room. Media availability for OSU coaches and players will be in the players lounge.
