Establishment of Office of Healthcare Policy On February 22, 2013, the government established an Office of Healthcare Policy within the Cabinet Secretariat as part of concerted Government efforts to implement a growth strategy for Japan. The office aims to establish Japan as a nation that boasts of the most advanced medical technologies and healthcare services in the world, which is expected to result in Japan being the country with the longest healthy life expectancy. Given these achievements, the Office also aims to develop the medical sector, pharmaceutical products and medical devices and equipment as strategic industries that will form a key pillar for Japan's economic revitalization. 2
