Nationwide Permits: A type of general permit; an alternative to our Individual Permit process. Issued every 5 years (current ones March 2012). 50 NWPs; activity-specific (similar in nature). NWPs authorize activities that have minimal environmental effects on the aquatic environment
Nationwide Permits: NWPs authorize a wide variety of activities. Some NWP activities may proceed without notifying the Corps. Other NWP activities cannot proceed until the project proponent has submitted a preconstruction notification (PCN) to the Corps, and received a verification letter.

Tips and Tricks Be clear in your goals and objectives. If you can t articulate the details, how will regulators know? Ensure the constructability of the project. Can anyone build this? Does it meet engineering standards? Engage in pre-application meetings on-site or NJ JPPM. Apply early and anticipate turn-around time.
