A Proposal for Polytechnic s Got Talent! Competition 2013 International Level Prepared by: 11-12 th June 2013 Language Unit General Studies Department Ungku Omar Polytechnic
Proposed Activities includes the following activities: i. Public Speaking Competition (Impromptu Speech) 30 marks Each team should choose a speaker (out of ten members) deliver an impromptu speech. The pics will be given on the spot. Thus, the chosen speaker should prepare and present on the spot. Each speaker will be given two (2) minutes prepare and three (3) minutes deliver his/her speech. ii. Drama Competition 50 marks Each team should only consist of ten (10) students perform a drama. The theme for the drama competition is Peace and Harmony. The theme selected is in conjunction with the learning live gether which values education for Peace, Human Rights, Democracy and Sustainable Development for the Asia-Pacific Region. The drama can be performed in any genre ranging from classic, modern cotemporary futuristic. In each drama, a song of not more than 3 5 minutes should be included. The time allocated for the drama is 10 minutes each team inclusive of 3 5 minutes for the song. iii. Language Game Show 10 marks This game includes activities like Tongue Twister, Spelling Bee, Charade, Crossword Puzzle and Riddles. The game is like a Treasure Hunt. Each team will be assigned different stations simultaneously. They are collect points at each station assigned. iv. Jamboree Night 10 marks This event will include ice-breaking session and Creative Performance Contest. The time allocated for each team for their creative performance is 3 minutes. Participants are allowed perform any creative performance such as dance, choir, poem recital, panmime, mimicry, etc.

Appendix C Rules & Regulations of the I. GENERAL RULES By entering the competition, all entrants of both the levels must agree abide by these Competition Rules and Regulations and the decisions of Organizer, which are final. II. COMPETITION PERIOD The will be carried out as follows: International Level : 11-12 h June 2013 III. ELIGIBILITY This competition is open all current students at the respective polytechnics in Malaysia at the time of entry in the competition. All entrants from each polytechnic must be in a team of ten (10) students. This is inclusive of drama and public speaking participants. They can be selected from any semester and must take hold of the Peace & Harmony theme, i.e. consist of plural crowd (multi-racial). A lecturer must be assigned for each team as the accompanying lecturer cum trainer for the team. Accommodation and food will only be provided participating teams and their accompanying lecturers throughout the competition. IV. PRIZES The International Level entrants will be in the running win: First Prize consist of RM 5,000 per team, Trophy, Plaques, and Certificates First Runner-up Prize consist of RM 3,000 per team, Trophy, Plaques, and Certificates Second Runner-up Prize consist of RM 1,500 per team, Trophy, Plaques, and Certificates Prizes are be given away during the closing ceremony. Any Cash Prizes are be rewarded in Ringgit Malaysia.
V. HOW TO PARTICIPATE All International Level entrants are be register with the Department of General Studies, Ungku Omar Polytechnic, Ipoh, Perak. If disqualified for any of the above abuses, the Organizer reserves the right terminate the entrant s eligibility participate. VII. THEME, GENRE & STYLE SELECTION Cutting of plays, scenes, ideas, movies, songs, and/or adaptations of other literary works are permitted. Accompanying lecturer cum trainer must ensure the appropriateness of their students work such as script choices, theme, costumes, props, language use, behaviour, gestures, etc. The persons who choose or approve those elements must ensure that their students piece of work does not offend any individual, groups or audiences at all times. In addition script considerations, use of props and the onstage actions of the acrs and actresses during a performance should not reflect gratuius or inappropriate sexual, political, racial, violent, and any other abusive contents. Any piece of work used in this competition should be reflective of the maturity level of the performers and in keeping with the familytype audience which is usually in attendance. The drama must reflect the Theme set by the Organizer as follow: Theme : Peace & Harmony
VIII. APPLICABLE LAWS This competition is subject all applicable federal, state and ministry laws. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Thus, entrants are abide by all the laws enacted by the higher authority. This specifically includes the abuse of sensitivities of any group, religion or individuals. IX. ADJUDICATION The Organizer will decide and elect adjudicars or judges for all the activities included in this competition within the capacity of their expertise, eligibility, expenses, and availability. The adjudication will be transparent and will be final.
