Hewlett-Packard Company Newsletter Date Volume 1, Issue 1 March 17, 2016 Important Dates: Dear Parents, Baskets have many uses: for serving, carrying, and storing. Many people use baskets as decorations or to display a group of items in a fancy way (like auction items). Jesus provided baskets of bread in the story of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. Children today look forward to finding baskets filled with candy and other treats on Easter morning. In the countries of Eastern Europe, special baskets were set aside just for Easter. These would be filled with foods just for the Easter meal, such as ham, bread, salt, butter, eggs, and a special Easter cake. Each basket would also have a candle in it, as a symbol of the radiance of the resurrected Christ. Our Easter break will begin on Wednesday, March 23rd. Please use these holiest of days to attend Mass or Stations of the Cross with your children. Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday are days filled with the deep traditions that will bring us all closer as a family and closer to the Lord. May you and your family experience the Easter joy and peace of the Risen Lord! Sincerely, Mrs. Egan Principal 3/18 Report Cards Grades K-8 3/23-3/28 Easter Holy Days No School 3/31 Move up to Middle School Night (for 5th graders) 4/9 Spring Live and Silent Auction at The Desmond Hotel 4/15 Seussical the Musical at 1:00 p.m. 4/16 Seussical the Musical at 7:00 p.m. 4/17 Seussical the Musical at 3:00 p.m. 4/18 Confirmation - Noon Dismissal 4/19 Parent Conferences No school Gr. 3 to 8 4/20 Parent Conferences No school PreK to Gr 2 4/30 First Communion 5/4 Home and School General Meeting 7p.m. 5/5 Ascension Thursday: No school for students 5/6 No School for Students

1000 Cranes for Good Will and Peace in our World In Japan the crane symbolizes long life and is said to live for a thousand years. An ancient legend promises that anyone who folds 1000 origami cranes will be granted a wish. A Japanese girl named Sadako Sasaki, who survived the bombing of Hiroshima, began making origami cranes after she was diagnosed with leukemia. She was inspired by the Japanese legend and was making the cranes so her wish for world peace would come true. At Saints Peter and Paul School, grades 1-8 worked together to make 1,000 cranes during the period of Lent. The students created the cranes to honor Sadako s wish for good will and peace in our world. The cranes are now hanging in the cafeteria on view through the end of the month. Mrs. Greenholt would like to thank all of the students and teachers who participated in this project.
