Mandatory Training Prospectus 2018 1
Introduction In order to have a safe working environment for patients, staff, visitors and volunteers, staff are required to attend Mandatory Training. The mandatory training allows for the Hospice Isle of Man staff to follow policies and procedures as laid down by the Senior Management Team and supported by the Board of Governors. There in the quality of work by Hospice staff can be assessed by the Registrations and Inspectors. The quality of Hospice staff work can be assured for Insurance purpose. The obligation to attend Mandatory Training is a requirement for the Isle of Man Government Registrations and Inspection Team. Welcome Day This is for new staff and volunteers and provides an introductory session to Hospice Isle of Man. The day includes Communication skills What is Hospice? Hospice Philosophy Tour of the building Uniforms (for clinical staff) Looking after yourself Confidentiality End of Life Care (for clinical staff) Lunch is provided as Hospice staff will join us. Syringe Pump Training Two yearly refresher To increase knowledge and skill in the use and management of syringe pumps. To understand the indications and contra-indications of the use of syringe pumps To update knowledge of the use of drugs: compatibilities, conversions and doses To practice setting up and how to monitor a McKinley T34 pump How to troubleshoot for problems encountered whilst administering drugs via the syringe pump Interactive case studies will be used to explore issues such as pain management, sedation and restlessness. Facilitators: Practice Development Lead and CNS Moving and Handling Clinical A yearly refresher on Moving and Handling for Clinical Staff. Moving and Handling Non Clinical A two yearly refresher on Moving and Handling for Non Clinical staff.
