(BCMBC) is a growing and influential construction trade organization in Broward County, Florida. BCMBC members are general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, corporations, service providers and more. Samuel J. Delevoe, Sr. E. Pat Larkins Luther Jackson Emanuel Aspras Howard Blackmon Calvin Sapp John Fairer Robert McKinzie, Sr. In 1971, eight minority business and community leaders identified the need for ensuring a level playing field for minority owned construction companies. These men, paved the way for BCMBC to become a leader in creating pathways for success for minority contractors and construction professionals. Our founder and first Executive Director, E. Pat Larkins, a local businessman and city commissioner worked with this team of like-minded professionals to craft and mobilize our mission of: Ensuring that highly skilled minorities and women are fairly represented within the local, state and global construction industry. The visions, intentions and legacy of Mr. Larkins and our founders remain alive.

Our History of Construction and Community Leadership BCMBC has the experience, leadership, resources and expertise to address the critical industry issues that affect your business and our community. Our goal is twofold: (1) to provide effective solutions for issues that directly impact Broward County firms and (2) to facilitate growth through networking, education, resource development programs and activities. BCMBC is dedicated to enabling its members prosperity and growth in spite of today s economic climate. Through years of experience, we ve learned that staying abreast of industry trends, prospects and forecasts is critical. We actively identify and pursue opportunities to ensure strategic positioning and growth for our members. We are industry leaders with the vision and resources to help you stay on top of emerging trends. Over the past forty years, we have maintained our commitment to ensuring that minorities and women not only remain skilled but are also prepared for emergent green technologies within the construction sector. As such, we have received statewide recognition for the South Florida Green Jobs Collaborative and Energy Training Partnership. Coalition members and members of the construction community are receive support and technical assistance through our newly developed Broward County Contractors Resource Center. Members of our Executive Leadership and Business Development Teams work closely with our Board of Directors, Membership Center, Contractor s Resource Center and Community Partners to forge relationships that lead to work for small businesses and entrepreneurs. By maintaining updated profiles of our highly capable members and knowing both specialties and certifications available to meet the needs of developers, builders, home and business owners, we remain prepared for all projects. Membership support services that ensure access to projects include: Mentor-Protégé Program Bonding Assistance Business Referrals Workforce Development Assistance Assistance with Completing Local and Federal Certifications Access to the resources and technical assistance afforded by the Broward County Contractors Resource Center Corporations benefit from a pool of strong personnel that often meet HUD Section-3 and other federal and state hiring requirements.

Relationships are the fuel that feeds business success. We create and ensure opportunities for members to network and build relationships. Many BCMBC members cite the close personal and business relationships that they have developed with their peers and corporations as a very valuable return on their membership investments. Members Nights Out, Builders Circle, Let s Do Business Florida, and other networking events allow members to forge relationships with other industry professionals. Members Nights Out offers a chance for informal networking with key decision makers and executives of industry giants in a casual atmosphere. At Builders Circles, members and recognized industry leaders exchange bestpractice methods. At the annual Lets Do Business Florida Summit, members receive special pricing, reserved seating and unique opportunities to meet and network with leaders of national corporations seeking business in Florida. Marketing opportunities are made available to members through the BCMBC website, directories, conferences, seminars and special events. Industry, council and committee meetings, educational seminars and workshops provide settings for members to network and exchange ideas. Our online membership directory exposes your business to more than 1,500 visitors, of whom many are construction owners in search of contractors, per month.

To meet the undeniable need for skilled and knowledgeable workers, leaders and administrators in the construction industry, BCMBC grooms minorities and females to outperform the industry. BCMBC has created and implements the only Contractors Resource Center locally. The Broward Contractors Resource Center (BCRC) offers capacity building workshops and direct training initiatives that are exceptional, cost-effective, or no-cost programs to educate and enhance the skills of existing workers. To support these trainings, our skilled Job Developers and Industry Liaisons and collaborative partners recruit, support and place new workers; providing a continuum for members of the industry to penetrate and navigate the market. Existing construction and construction related businesses are supported in developing capacity and professional development through a robust offering of educational programs to help improve every aspect of your business.
