ASSISTANT COOK Under general supervision, to prepare, cook and serve a variety of foods in large quantity: to assist in the maintenance of a school cafeteria, and to do related work as required. Prepares desserts, pastries, salads and other food. Assists or substitutes for the Cook-Manager in preparing meat dishes and other hot dishes. Refers to recipes and estimates ingredient quantities to be used. Sets up and serves food at serving lines. May account for money received. Assists in setting up main steam table. Assists in cleaning and storing cafeteria utensils, equipment and food supplies. Assists the Cook-Manager with regular inventories of supplies and related record keeping activities. May assume responsibility for operation of the cafeteria in the absence of the Cook-Manager. Proper methods of preparing and cooking foods in large quantities; kitchen methods, machines and utensils that are used in school cafeterias; principles of sanitation; simple mathematics as applied to recipe conversion. Prepare and cook meats, main dishes, bake, and other menu items in large quantity; operate machines found in school cafeterias; perform physical labor as required to accomplish duties; work cooperatively with others. Follow oral and written directions One year of experience in preparing large quantities of foods in an institution or commercial kitchen is desirable. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Completion of food courses offered by California State Department of Education School lunch program is desirable. 1

CAFETERIA ASSISTANT BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under close supervision, to assist in the preparation of food packaging, serving, cleaning and related work, as required. Prepares fruits, vegetables, and other foods for cooking. Assists in the preparation of main dishes for cooking, baking and serving of food. Cleans cafeteria equipment and stores food. Washes and sets tables. Puts servings on plates. Washes pots and pans. Cleans and sterilizes plates and silverware. Cleans and sweeps kitchen area and cleans woodwork. May supervise student workers. Basic food serving utensils; sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance; methods of preparing food and simple desserts. Follow oral directions; read and write English; work cooperatively with others; perform physical labor as required to accomplish duties. Some experience in quantity food preparation is desirable, but not required. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. 2

COOK-MANAGER Under direction, to plan, organize and supervise the operation of a District Central Kitchen or Snack Bar; to prepare, cook and serve meals; and to do related work as required. Plans, assigns, supervises and performs work in the preparation and serving of meals, or a la carte items to pupils and teachers. Works from weekly prepared menu. Prepares and cooks the main hot dish. Prepares salads and sandwiches. Carves meat and dishes up food. Requisitions foodstuffs. Supervises and personally performs cleaning of kitchen, kitchen equipment and eating utensils. Checks bills on foodstuffs. Opens and closes cafeteria or snack bar. Makes oral and written reports. Outlines daily duties and work schedules of kitchen staff. Assists in arranging proper storage of food and supplies. Sets standards of efficiency and sanitation in food preparation. Assists and instructs new personnel in methods and procedures of tasks assigned. Works with custodial and maintenance staffs in maintenance and operation of the kitchen and equipment. May keep a daily record of sales, and maintain simple bookkeeping records of snack bar operations. Receives invoices of operations and prepares payment checks. Proper and sanitary methods of preparing, cooking, serving and storing foods, and the problems involved in managing a cafeteria or snack bar; basic kitchen machines and utensils; accounting records and business activities of a Central Kitchen and/or Snack Bar operation; nutrition and school meal programs; methods of computing food quantities required by menus. Prepare and cook food designed for the needs of students, observing sanitation requirements; requisition proper amounts of food for an economical food service program; work with, instruct and supervise a staff of helpers and assistants; operate common mechanical appliances found in institutional kitchens; compile, maintain and submit accurate records and reports; follow oral and written directions. Two years of paid experience in preparation and serving of foodstuffs in an institutional cafeteria or restaurant serving at least 100 persons daily, with one year at the cook's level. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Completion of food courses offered by California State Department of Education School Lunch Program is desirable. 3

SNACK BAR ASSISTANT Under general supervision, to prepare, cook and serve a variety of foods in large quantity; to assist in the maintenance and operation of the Snack Bar, and do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Prepares fruits, vegetables, and other foods for cooking and frying. Assists in the snack bar by preparing sandwiches and salads, butters bread. Cleans, serves and stores food. Washes pots and pans. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and silverware. Cleans and sweeps kitchen area. Acts as manager in absence of Snack Bar Manager. Assists with training of part-time and substitute personnel. May supervise students in snack bar operations. Basic food serving utensils and equipment; sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance; proper methods of preparing and cooking food in large quantities; simple mathematics; basic computer applications. Follow oral directions; read and write in English; maintain cooperative working relationships; cook and bake skillfully; perform physical labor as required to accomplish duties. One year of cooking experience in preparing large quantities of food in an institution or commercial kitchen is desirable. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; completion of food courses offered by the California State Department of Education is desirable. 4

SNACK BAR MANAGER Under general supervision, has charge of the Snack Bar operation; and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Plans, lays out and supervises the work of the Snack Bar staff. Plans menus. Orders, receives and accounts for foodstuffs and supplies. Prepares and serves food. Supervises and assists in cleaning up after meals. Maintains kitchen equipment in clean, orderly and efficient manner. Keeps a daily record of all sales. Trains part-time and substitute help and student helpers in serving, sanitation, care of equipment and personal neatness and conduct. Keeps a daily inventory of all food on hand, and prepares reports as required. Maintains monthly inventory, student payroll reports. Feeding large groups; modern sanitation requirements; modern kitchen equipment; proper handling and storing of foodstuffs; accounting records and business activities of a snack bar operation; basic computer skills and application for food service. Exercise care and consideration in observing sanitation requirements; plan and direct an efficient food service program, which includes preparing tasty food and serving it attractively; judge the quantity of food required and prepare it with a minimum of waste; compile, maintain and submit accurate records and reports; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; work effectively with staff and students. Two years of experience in a food service program as an assistant cook. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Completion of food courses offered by California Department of Education School Lunch Program is desirable. 5

ACCOUNT CLERK I Revised 9/2003 Under direct supervision, performs a variety of general clerical work in connection with maintaining and verifying manual, or computer assisted financial and statistical records and reports; prepares routine fiscal related reports and records; other related work as required. Assembles, tabulates, checks, and files accounting, financial, property control and statistical data. Process documents including invoices, purchase orders, warrants and inventory records. Operates a computer terminal in posting to fiscal records. Posts to subsidiary ledgers. Performs arithmetical calculations and verifies computations. May receive money and maintain records of cash receipts. Accounts for and prepares bank deposit documents. May assist in the preparation of revolving fund statements and reports. May prepare warrants and warrant registers. Types a variety of documents such as requisitions, bid documents, purchase orders, warrants, and other related documents. Maintains fiscal and financial-related records and files. Performs general clerical duties, including sorting, filing, duplicating, data searching and abstracting, answering the telephone and responding to informational inquiries. Prepares purchase orders for equipment and services as directed by the supervisor. Maintain all student body and other funds as directed by the supervisor Close all fiscal year accounts and open new accounts as directed by the supervisor. Obtain records and information needed for all independent audits. Basic accounting and financial record keeping principles and procedures, especially as they pertain to governmental and school district accounting; standard office equipment; modern office practices, particularly as they apply to financial record keeping; data processing operations and procedures. Prepare clear and accurate general accounting clerical functions; make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; understand and carry out oral and written directions; type at a rate of 25 WPM from clear copy containing numerical and tabular data; operate standard office machines; prepare data processing input data and related reports. One year of general financial experience for a school district or a commercial concern involving the preparation of financial and payroll reports, accounts payable and receivable. Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by coursework in bookkeeping, elementary accounting and financial record management. 6

ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN Under direction, to maintain and prepare financial records, statements and reports of the district. To assist in the budget preparation and control; and to do related work as required. Assists in the maintenance of and audits records of cash disbursements and receipts. Assist with maintaining the appropriation ledger. Coordinates the distribution of classification accounts and warrants, and checks the classification and any irregularities in the accounts payable invoices. Assists in the preparation of the accounts receivable invoices. Make monthly reconciliations between district balance sheets and ledgers and the books of the County Superintendent's office. Maintains continuous budget accounts. Prepares periodic financial statements. Audits expense vouchers. Makes general ledger entries. Maintains the chart of accounts in conjunction with the ED system and in accordance with the California School Accounting manual. Keeps monthly controls of fuel and sales tax records. Keeps schedules and records of all district insurance, lease and maintenance agreements and prepares reports from records maintained. Assists in the preparation of all school district payrolls, Revolving Cash Fund and Clearing Account, Special State Building Funds, transportation records, warehouse records, and State Textbooks Requisition records. Assists in preparation of annual reports for Drivers Training, Transportation Detail Expense Report, Schedule of Insurance on Buses, Replacement of School Bus Report. Accounting and financial record keeping principles and procedures, especially as they pertain to governmental and school district accounting; modern accounting methods; modern office practices, particularly as they apply to financial record keeping; data processing operations and procedures. Prepare clear and accurate financial statements and reports, and to analyze accounting data, including estimates, invoices and reports; make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; understand and carry out oral and written directions; type at a rate of 30 WPM from clear copy containing numerical and tabular data; operate office appliances such as adding, calculating and copying; prepare data processing input data and related reports. 3. Experience Two years of accounting experience for a school district or a large commercial concern involving the preparation of financial and payroll reports, accounts payable and receivable. Equivalent to graduation from high school with major work in bookkeeping and elementary accounting; college course work in accounting highly desirable. 7

ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN III Under direction, to assist in the comprehensive accounting programs of the district including general, special and categorical fund accounting, attendance accounting, preparation and administration of the annual budget, financial statements and reports, payrolls, and disbursement of funds, and to do related work as required EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Assists in the preparation of the annual general fund and all other fund budgets of the district including budgetary transfers or revisions. Assists in the accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping of the general, special and categorical funds budget, income and expenditures by object and programs through data processing or otherwise. Recordkeeping of all attendance and enrollment. Assists in the design of appropriate and effective systems, procedures and internal controls to effect maximum personnel efficiency, expedite the flow of work, safeguard the funds of the district, and generate accurate and informative records for managerial information. Assists in the reconciliation of monthly recorded transactions and account balances between the district's computerized records and the County Office of Education. Assists in the preparation of monthly financial reports. Provides accounting assistance to principals and technical accounting supervision for the food service program. Assists in the preparation of all periodic and year-end reports emanating from the accounting office, including all claims, applications, and waivers for mandated costs, restricted and non-restricted indirect costs, and annual financial and budget reports. Process emergency advance and reimbursements for categorical funds. Prepares and provides analysis of accounts or transactions for the auditors or examiners and gives any assistance required in the course of the annual audit of the district's financial operation and condition. Responsible for maintaining financial records and files for audit, statistical, and reference purposes and providing adequate storage. Keeps monthly controls of earnings, tax, certificated and non-certificated retirement; supervises the preparation of yearly statements of earnings and tax withheld; keeps schedules and records of all district insurance; supervises the inventory program in each school in the district and prepares reports from records maintained. Directs the preparation of all school district payrolls. Supervises and maintains records on all special Student Body Accounts, Revolving Cash Fund and Clearing Account, Special State Building Funds, transportation records, warehouse records, State Textbooks' Requisition records. CONFLICT RESOLUTION SPECIALIST Under direct supervision of the Assistant Principal and coordinating Administrative Assistant/Counselor, the Conflict Resolution Specialist develops promotional materials, collects student and staff referrals, notifies parents of their student's option to participate in conflict resolution activities, acquires parental permission, and notifies students and their teachers of the schedule of sessions. Conducts the established conflict resolution series of sessions with students. Provides feedback to supervisor regarding possible improvements of the program. Prepares and presents certificates of completion to students. Maintains a regular presence on campus, allowing students access to him or her, as needs arise..
