February 7, 2018 Payroll Transition Highlights Last Business Day: A business day is Monday through Friday. Monthly/Academic: Those individuals who are paid monthly will be paid on the last business day of the month. A business day is Monday-Friday. If UGA is closed, you will still be paid on the last business day of the month. Saturdays and Sundays are not pay dates. Bi-weekly: Those individuals who get paid every two weeks will be paid on Fridays. This begins with Friday, January 4, 2019. If UGA is closed, you will still be paid on Friday unless it is a bank observed holiday in which case you will be paid the business day before. If payday is a bank observed holiday, will I still get paid? Yes. o Example, July 4, 2025 is on a Friday you will be paid July 3, 2025. When UGA is closed, the payday will still be the last business day. o Thanksgiving Day 2019 is Thursday, November 28, 2019. Monthly pay date will be Friday, November 29, 2019 (the last business day of the month) because November 30 and November 31 are a Saturday and a Sunday. Academic Payroll: A business day is Monday through Friday. Academic pay date for May 2018 does not change. It will be May 4, 2018 per the published payroll calendars. Starting in December 2018, academic payroll will be paid the last business day of each month. For December 2018, the last business day of the month is Monday, December 31, 2018. Summer School pay dates will also pay on the last business day of the month beginning in 2019. December 2018 and January 2019 Pay Dates: December 2018: - Salary Biweekly: December 6: for the pay period November 15-28 December 20: for the pay period November 29-December 12 December 27: for the pay period December 13-December 15 The salaried biweekly paycheck on December 27 will be taxed at a normal rate. These are normal working hours. This paycheck is needed to bridge the transition of the work week from Thursday Wednesday to Sunday - Saturday. This paycheck is needed to bridge the transition to work week from Thursday-Wednesday to Sunday-Saturday. This work week transition begins December 16, 2018. - Academic & Monthly: December 31 January 2019: - Newly Synced Biweekly Payroll: January 4: for the pay period December 16 December 29, 2018. January 18: for the pay period December 30, 2018 January 12, 2019. - Academic & Monthly: January 31 The biweekly pay date will change from Thursday to Friday beginning January 4, 2019 for the December 16-29, 2018 pay period. Time Approval: Approval in OneUSG Connect can occur as time is worked starting December 16, 2018. This is different than today when approval has to occur after the pay period has ended. Time Approval for the pay period of December 16 December 29, 2018 will be due Monday, December 31, 2018. Paper Checks: If UGA is closed but it is a payday, will I be able to pick-up a paper check from Payroll? No. Starting January 2019, all direct deposit transmissions and all paper payroll checks will be processed by OneUSG Connect. Paper checks will not be distributed by UGA departments to employees and the UGA Payroll department will not have the paper paychecks to distribute.
