Soaring Eagle Scholarship This scholarship was established to recognize students for their accomplishments in Scouting! Funded By Proceeds from the Annual BUILDING CHARACTER CELEBRATION Summary of Scholarship The Soaring Eagle Scholarship is for a $1,000 a year, renewable scholarship, for a maximum of four years ($4,000) to attend an accredited college, trade school, or university. Applicants must be qualified and worthy graduating high school senior. Selection will be made by a designated committee and will be announced at the annual BUILDING CHARACTER CELEBRATION held annually. The Scholarship may be renewed provided the renewal criterion is met. All Applicants for Soaring Eagle Scholarship Requirements 1. Must have earned the Eagle Scout, Venture Summit or Sea Scout Quartermaster rank and be a currently active registered member of the Great Lakes FSC, Boy Scouts of America. 2. Must be a graduating High School Senior and hold a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. 3. Submit applications that are postmarked by December 31 st. Use sufficient postage. Submissions should be sent to Victor A. Pooler, Scout Executive. 4. Provide a High School Transcript showing ACT/SAT scores and class ranking, if available. 5. Submitting proof of College acceptance. 6. Must attend, in uniform, the Building Character Celebration. 7. A summary of your Eagle Service Project. (One page or less) 8. Provide an essay by the applicant entitled What role does service play in impacting lives in your community and beyond? (Approx. 250 to 300 words). 9. Provide three recommendation letters: one must be from your Scoutmaster, Venturing Advisor or Sea Scout Advisor (including a case statement of need) and two others from other than family members. If using a reference from a school related person, use only one. job, religion, or personal are acceptable. All Applicants for Soaring Eagle Scholarship Must: Procedures Complete the application personally. Answer all questions on the application ( See attached is not an acceptable answer). Submit all attachments with the application form to ensure that all items are available for review at the same time (We will not assume for matching items that are mailed separately). Include on each attachment the applicant s name. Great Lakes FSC is not responsible for lost or misdirected applications.
