XII CALL FOR CANDIDATES FOR INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY HOLIDAYS Rules and conditions for participation 1. WHAT IS INVOLVED IN INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY HOLIDAYS? Fundación Telefónica is organizingthe 12th International Solidarity Holidaysprogramme, an initiative which allows employees, early retirees and retirees of Grupo Telefónica to take part for two weeks in a project related to Social & Educational Projects of Fundación Telefónica in Latin America, in collaboration with the organizations with which it works on social action projects locally. Through this project, participants can contribute by sharing their time and skills, and have a unique experience in which to develop and discover new talents. The purpose of the rules is to regulate the assignment of places for current and former Grupo Telefónica employees to participate in the twelfth edition of International Solidarity Holidays as part of the Telefónica Corporate Volunteer Programme. Applications must be received between 16 March 2016 and 14 April 2016. 2. AVAILABLE PLACES This callis aimed at all employees, early retirees and retirees of Grupo Telefónica registered in the TelefónicaVolunteers programme andis for a maximum of 86 places,depending on the projects selected in response to the call for international projects. These places include: Return economy air travel from the volunteer s country of residence to the host country Comprehensive international travel insurance Bed and breakfast accommodation. Other food costs lunch and dinner will be met by the volunteer Transport for solidarity work. Travel costs and other expenses not related to solidarity work are expressly excluded Visa expenses if required 3. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS All those who are current employees, early retirees or retirees of Grupo Telefónica in any country in which it operates and who are not currently undertaking employment in another
company or institution can take part.in the case of current employees, only those with more than one year s service with Grupo Telefónica as at 15 July 2016 are eligible to take part. The selection criteria for Volunteer places are as follows: 1. Previous voluntary experience. 2. Previous involvement in the Telefónica Volunteer Programme. 3. Previous involvement in educational activities with children, parents, and/or communities at social risk. 4. Knowledge of Social Action programmes run by Fundación Telefónica. 5. Specific training in voluntary work. 6. Good level of Spanish and/or Portuguesedepending on destination. 7. Knowledge and/or skills which can be utilized in workshops/extracurricular activities (painting, music, crafts, sports etc.). 8. Ability to adapt to other countries/cultures. 9. Motivation to take part. Volunteers who have participated in International Solidarity Holidays since 2010 may not apply. 4. GENERAL PROJECT CONDITIONS Applications must be received from 16 March 2016 to 14 April 2016. The undertaking of projects in the different countries in Latin America will be carried out from 15 July to 28 August 2016. Each project will last two weeks, and each week will run from Monday to Friday in the following week. However, it is likely that candidates will be asked to travel on the Saturday preceding the start day of the project and on the Saturday after its completion,dependent on the project and flight availability. Selected volunteers will have to commit to solidarity work during the entire two-weekperiod assigned. The definitive arrival and return dates of each group will be notified once places have been allocated and flight availability confirmed. Once confirmed, travel dates cannot be amended. There is flexibility for volunteers to extend the length of their stay in the destination country, which must be requested before tickets have been issued and with sufficient advance notice to the managers oftelefónica Volunteers.If volunteers wish to extend their stay in the host country, travelling on dates different to those anticipated, this must be notified during the period established for this and volunteers will have to bear the accommodation costs for this extended period. After tickets have been issued
volunteers are required to travel on the specified dates or bear the costs related to flight ticket changes. 5. COMMITMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTICIPATING VOLUNTEERS Selected volunteers undertake to: 1. Ensure that their workload and/or work responsibilities allow them to take their holidays on the assigned project dates. It is the responsibility of the volunteer to advise his/her manager and, if necessary, obtain approval for the holiday period in question. Volunteers are expected to use their company holiday allowance to take part in the project. 2. Participate in the training process (mandatory) before the International Solidarity Holidaysproject starts. 3. Sign the documents relating to their participation, including the transfer of image rights and consent for their data to be managed on a temporary basis solely for the duration of the project, in countries which are not recognized by the European Council as having adequate data protection measures. 4. Reside in the assigned location where the voluntary activities are taking place for the duration of the project and not to leave this place without prior notification and explanation to Fundación Telefónica, which will make a decision in each case. 5. Perform the voluntary activities in the agreed time allocated. 6. Adopt a cooperative approachwith local managers of the project whether theyarerepresentatives of collaborating institutions, school representatives, representatives of Fundación Telefónica or the local Fundación/Movistar office. 7. Respect at all times the rights of the children, young people andcommunities with whomthey are working. 8. Collaborate in the appraisal and performance review of voluntary work undertaken. 9. Find out about the climate and health conditions in the destination zone in order to take the necessary preventative measures (vaccinations, warm clothes, etc.). 10. Participate in activities to promote Solidarity Holidays which Fundación Telefónica may organize througha Telefónica Volunteers group in your area. Volunteers should consider any possible drawbacks or problems associated with this experience of living in countries with different cultures, different standards of hygiene, health care, food, society, security, accessibility, infrastructures, etc. Volunteers who participate in the International Solidarity Holidays project are representing Grupo Telefónica in the country and communities in which they are placed during their two weeks of work. As such, it is hoped that they will at all times maintain an attitude of respect and responsibility both within the group and in their dealings with the wider local groups and communities.
Fundación Telefónica reserves the right to immediately remove from the project and the Telefónica Volunteer programmeany participant who is unable to behave responsibly, who creates serious divisions in the group, or whose behaviour violates a person s dignity and reputation or threatens public order. Theunjustified abandonment of the International Solidarity Holidaysprogramme after acceptance will result in immediate notification to this person s local Human Resources department. 6. APPLICATION PROCESS Those interested in participating in this initiative should download and complete the application form found at voluntarios.telefonica.com and attach it when applying tointernational Solidarity Holidaysas specified in the instructions on this website. The deadline for submitting applications for this particular project is 23:59 on 14 April 2016, but this can be extended if not all available places are filled. 7. SELECTION OF VOLUNTEERS Fundación Telefónica will appoint a Selection Committee comprising members of thefundación Telefónica management team and, if applicable, members of the management teams of the Volunteer Programmes in each country whoare responsible for evaluating and selecting the applications submitted by candidates. The committee is independent in its decision-making and its ruling is final. Fundación Telefónica, through its Selection Committee, will consider the applications and award the available places according to the criteria outlined in Section 3 Candidate Requirements of this document,notifying successful volunteers of itsdecision from 25 April 2016. In addition, a reserve list using the same selection criteria will be drawn up to cover any possiblewithdrawals or resignations. To confirm their participation, the selected volunteers must: 1. Confirm their express acceptance via email to voluntarios@telefonica.com within five working days of the day following notification of their successful application. 2. SendFundación Telefónica a scanned copy of their passport, which should be valid beyond the end of the assigned project as detailed in the next point, within five working daysof the day following notification of their successful application. 8. VOLUNTEERS SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS Full passport valid to at least six months after the end date of the assigned project.
Any visas that may be required for the destination country,depending ontheir nationality. 9. WORK TO BE UNDERTAKEN DURING THE PROJECT The selected volunteers will participate, as far as possible and whenever deemed necessary by the nature of the project, in the definition of the activities to be undertaken with the local non-profit organizations that work alongside Fundación Telefónica. Specifically, the work to be undertaken includes: 5.1. Voluntary Telefonica Volunteers participating in International Solidarity Holidayswill undertake a range of activities, among which the following may feature: Encouraging children to engage inreading and writing Organizing recreationaland creative activities Organizing and conducting various workshops and talks for children on topics such as health, leisure and education. Organizing and conducting various workshops and talks for parents on topics such as health, environment, child welfare, nutrition,etc. Tutoring English classes or tutoring in Spanish Introduction to Information and Communication Technologies: internet, blogs, social networks, etc. Infrastructure refurbishment work on schools and libraries Environmental protection Possible support for people affected by disability or chronic illness The specific activities of each group and project will be summarized in more defined tasks depending on the project requirements in each location and will be notified to volunteers at the time they are selected. 10. CONTRACT AGREEMENT For the greater engagement and accountability offundación Telefónica and its employees, an agreement will be signed by both parties. Also, Fundación Telefónica is authorized to collect personal data and assume the rights to any photographs or video footage taken during activities. The volunteer s authorization to waive image rights implies the granting of a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to Fundación Telefónica to reproduce, communicate, transmitor inform in any medium or technology in any manner as required by Fundación Telefónica,with no time limits and always in relation to the International Solidarity Holidays programme.
Participation in this project implies knowledge and acceptance of these rules and conditions.
