A SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL FOR THE 2018 UNC CLEAN TECH SUMMIT CO-HOSTED BY ie.unc.edu/cleantech

When we think about the future, we have to think about clean technology. Right now it's over a trillion dollars worldwide, more than $200 billion in our country alone, and the Research Triangle Park has been a place where new ideas for new industries have always been born. CAROL L. FOLT, CHANCELLOR, UNC-CHAPEL HILL Fran O Sullivan, general manager for IBM GBS Global Operations delivered a keynote address at the 2017 Summit.

Our Beginnings On February 26, 2014, UNC-Chapel Hill hosted the first-annual North Carolina Clean Tech Summit in partnership with Kenan-Flagler s Center for Sustainable Enterprise (CSE), the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster (RTCC), and Strata Solar. The Institute for the Environment and CSE welcomed more than 300 people from industry, academia, and state government to discuss the clean tech industry in North Carolina. The first Summit sought to ignite innovation and collaboration across the state and served as an extension of the Institute s mission to seek solutions to critical environmental issues. Today, the name has changed a bit and attendance has increased three-fold with more than 1,000 participants. However, its mission remains primarily the same, to unite individuals from business, government, academia and now agriculture to explore key issues in clean technology to foster growth in the Southeast s clean tech industry. On March 1-2, the 5th Annual UNC Clean Tech Summit will convene at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill and will bring together leaders, current and future, for a prosperous Southeast. More than 1,000 students, professionals, and speakers from around the world will gather for unique opportunities to discuss, collaborate, mentor and network. Each year the Summit builds on the success of the previous year. Our sponsors make it possible for us to bring together attendees and speakers to explore key issues in the Southeast s clean tech industry.

The 2018 Summit The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will host its fifth annual UNC Clean Tech Summit Mar. 1-2, 2018. The event will highlight the latest innovations, trends and challenges in the clean technology industry and how North Carolina is playing a key role in leading the way to a green global economy. The Summit is co-hosted by the UNC Institute for the Environment and the Center for Sustainable Enterprise at UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. THE THEMES Entrepreneurship Celebrating the entrepreneur in the clean tech Industry. Clean Energy Exploring how clean energy and technology innovations are driving economic growth and transforming both urban and rural regions. Innovation in Agriculture Highlighting new technological breakthroughs that advance global food security and increase sustainable farming. Smart + Healthy Cities Recognizing the work being done to create innovative solutions for progressive city needs. THE PROGRAM Keynote Addresses Clean tech industry leaders and key government officials. Panel Discussions Leaders in industry, government, academia and agriculture. Workshops Collaboration with students for informal and in-depth discussions. Round Table Discussions Opportunities for professionals to explore key issues. MENTORING Over the course of the two-day Summit, mentors will meet individually or in small groups with students who have applied for a Summit mentor. Summit mentors provide career advice, thoughts on key experiences in their leadership journey, and form relationships with students who could become future employees or connections. NETWORKING LUNCH The networking lunch session offers an opportunity for organizations to build the case to students on why their industry or organization should be a top consideration as they explore career opportunities in the clean tech industry. Organizations have the opportunity to host tables and recruit the best and brightest students for internships and careers. PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING At the Summit networking reception and dinner, attendees can interact with more people and have the flexibility to move around the room while enjoying a variety of local foods, beer and hard cider.

The 5th annual Summit will bring together attendees and speakers from business, government, agriculture and academia to explore key issues in clean tech with keynotes, discussions, workshops, mentoring and networking to foster leadership and growth in the Southeast s clean tech industry.
