Business, innovation, œnotourism VITeff s three aims for 2017 The next VITeff International Sparkling Wine Technology Exhibition, organised by the Marne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will take place from Tuesday 17 th to Friday 20 th October at the Millesium in Epernay. Taking place for the 14 th time, the event will highlight the dynamic nature of the sector in terms of innovation, economic attractiveness and oenotourism. Over four days, the programme will reflect this threefold approach, promoting regional initiatives, international exchange and business meetings. With the aim of supporting the wider influence of the sector in this region and its economic activity, dedicated actions will be taken at the international level, with a focus on European markets. This year, the special guest country will be Germany, in honour of its shared border with the new Grand Est region in which VITeff operates. It will have a dedicated area within VITeff, industry professionals will be present as delegates, and special events are planned: an apero-mix, a quiz on the cultural differences between France and Germany... Innovation and new technologies will be given an even greater role thanks to the Innovation Award, which has been revisited this year by its organiser, the Communauté d Agglomération Epernay, Coteaux et Plaine de Champagne. Entries for the Innovation Award should be submitted by Friday 12 th May 2017. The Pavillon du Futur, created for the 2016 Foire de Châlons-en- Champagne 2016, will be present at VITeff, measuring some 250 m 2. This dedicated space will promote the expertise of regional start-ups and innovative projects connected with the wine producing industry, in particular thanks to the collaboration of local co-working spaces including La Capsule (Reims) and Zam (Aÿ). Another traditional focus of the VITeff exhibition, employment and training, supported by the Maison de l Emploi et des Métiers d Epernay et sa Région, will also benefit from the changes associated with the Passerelle des Métiers à l Emploi, a job-dating session and the active involvement of young people from Champagne and Alsace with the association Entreprendre pour Apprendre. This space, encompassing the Pavillon du Futur and the Passerelle des Métiers à l Emploi, aims to promote regional skills and expertise looking towards the future. To support the dynamic provided by the UNESCO World Heritage listing in 2015, VITeff has included project developers and driving forces in oenotourism in the preparation of informative, educational activities. Workshops, experiential exercises, round tables and breakfast meetings will all deal with this subject, one of the core focal points for 2017. In terms of practical organisation, there will be tables and interactive digital terminals at the entrance to the exhibition. This will improve the visitor experience, facilitating access to the programme and the various initiatives offered over the four days, as well as making it easier to move around the exhibition thanks to an interactive map. Finally, the provision of refreshments has also been revisited: next October, catering facilities will be grouped together in a town square style for greater convenience and conviviality. The restaurant will also be reorganised. In addition, hot spots installed across the exhibition area will provide high speed internet access. To mark this year s event, VITeff will be given a new, updated visual identity to reflect its reaffirmed energy. This will be unveiled in the next few weeks. A new visual identity The evolutions in the VITeff exhibition s visual identity reflect the new graphic approach adopted for 2017. This new look logo meets several objectives: - it enhances the baseline the Sparkling wine technology exhibition in order to highlight the technology aspect of the exhibition, as well as the sparkling wine dimension - in terms of graphics, the new logo is even brighter thanks to the additional white, on which the green stands out better - it s the VITeff signature. - finally, a horizontal presentation was preferred in order to facilitate the use of the logo, particularly on various document types, both in print and online. A dedicated offer for sparkling wines Over the four days of the exhibition, visitors will be able to discover the materials, equipment and services proposed by the exhibitors for the sparkling wine industry. Last year, 490 exhibitors over 27,500 m 2 welcomed more than 22,000 visitors, including many international visitors from 35 different countries. In order to optimise the visibility of the exhibition stands and facilitate movement, tables and interactive terminals located at the entrance will allow attendees to prepare their visit. A boost for innovation Innovation is a key factor that sets any company seeking to expand apart, particularly when it comes to export. This is why innovation will take centre stage at this year s VITeff. Thanks to the changes planned for this year, the organiser Communauté d Agglomération Epernay, Coteaux et Plaine de Champagne intends to provide additional added value for the winners of the Innovation Awards 2017. As a real platform for exchanging ideas, with dozens of workshops, conferences and business meetings, this year VITeff will provide a new experience with the Pavillon du futur. Beyond the space itself, the young participants and start-uppers will present a new approach to entrepreneurship. High tech, collaborative projects, innovative actions: this space will allow them to promote their expertise and share it with companies and producers in the sparkling wine industry. Encouraging communication and openness to the world The oenotourism challenge With its UNESCO World Heritage listing, tourism in the Champagne area has experienced a sharp increase in attractiveness. Against this background, VITeff is this year affirming its position as a hub for those involved in oenotourism projects, providing access to information and fostering communication with professionals in the tourism industry. An international outlook The organisers of VITeff have focused their efforts on European markets this year, with Germany as the Special Guest Country. producers from other countries will be welcomed to the exhibition in Epernay, as will institutional representatives and elected officials. The Export Award will be presented again this year thanks to the Grand Est Region. This will reward initiatives taken by exhibiting companies at the international level, with two categories: Audacity and Performance. Finally, Wednesday will be fully devoted to international growth and will allow wine-growers to meet with experts in order to learn about the most promising markets and preparing export activities. Boosting Innovation and Training This year, candidates for the Innovation Award must submit their entries by Friday 12 th May. A short-listing jury will meet the candidates on 22 nd June to examine their submissions in six categories: Viticulture Oenology Innovative technology for Process, products and consumables Marketing services Two special awards will also be presented: the Special Audience Award and the Pavillon du Futur Award. The first encourages the participation of visitors to the exhibition, asking them to vote using a dedicated app or through the VITeff website. A dedicated area will allow the winners to promote their products or services, as will a communication kit. Initiated last year at the Foire de Châlons-en-Champagne, the Pavillon du Futur will cover an area of 250 m 2 at VITeff. It brings together local startups, project developers, and regional co-working spaces. Its aim is to highlight the existing innovative momentum and propose a vision of the winemaking sector of the future. La Passerelle des Métiers à l Emploi, which was visited by almost 1,000 people in 2015, is also making its come-back at VITeff. Several events will take place, including 5 minutes to convince workshops, professional role plays and interactive workshops aimed at young people. The organisers aim is to develop the quality of the activities on offer and continue to promote initiatives in the oenotourism sector in order to cultivate interest. An Innov day, in partnership with Entreprendre pour Apprendre, is also being prepared, and will bring together young people attending vocational viticulture high schools in Champagne with their Alsatian neighbours from the Lycée de Rouffach. This day will be an opportunity for them to meet and interact with entrepreneurs in the sector. They will have to work together, develop their creativity and innovate in order to solve a specific challenge. A job-dating session will also be organised, scheduled to enable the exhibiting companies to participate. The oenotourism challenge Economic development, creation of new jobs, more attractiveness... All of these apply to oenotourism - a very specific branch of tourism requiring a professional, quality-focused approach and should not be taken lightly. Throughout the VITeff, several events relating to Living the Champagne experience and Turning your vineyard into a business will take place, led by experts in tourism and representatives of institutions in the industry, designed with wine-growers in mind.
