Hosting Your Food and Fund Drive Food and Fund Drives are easy! Your company, organization, friends and family can play a vital role in ending hunger by sponsoring a food and fund drive. We work with you to help plan, promote and manage your campaign. We provide you with the tools you need collection boxes, coin canisters and posters. With help from businesses like yours, we are able to distribute more than 346,000 meals a week through over 450 Partner Programs. Food security for all is our goal, and we need your help to achieve it. Tips for Hosting a Successful Food Drive Ideas for Collecting Food Most Needed Items What Your Gift Can Do Hosting a Food Drive Page 3 Page 3-4 Page 5 Page 5 Page 6-7 1

Tips for Hosting a Successful Food Drive Select specific dates and locations. Determine what time frame would be most effective in maximizing participation: a day, a week or a month. Then decide where your event will take place your local office, building lobby or a special event or function. Organize. A successful food drive often depends on those who organize it, so be sure to enlist the help of people who are dedicated, enthusiastic and good at motivating others. Set a goal. Reaching for a target can help build momentum. Remember fifteen pounds of food can feed a family of four for one day. Promote your food drive. Promote your event early and often. Display posters in highly visible locations. Send out e-mails, text messages and voice mails. Include reminders in newsletters or on your website or social media. Tips for Hosting Food Drives Make it easy to donate. Put collection boxes and contribution canisters in high-traffic, easily accessible locations. If your facility is large, consider having more than one drop-off point. Pack up your donations. If you do not use Food Bank collection boxes, pack your donated food into sturdy boxes that aren t too heavy and securely tape the bottoms. If the Food Bank is picking up the donated food, please gather it into one location that is accessible by a dolly. Celebrate your success! Share the results with everyone. Send out thank you notes, throw a party and recognize those who contributed. 2

Ideas for Collecting Food 3 Ideas for Collecting Food Fun & Games Host a poker or game night with canned food or dollar donations as an entrance fee or buy-in. Gather friends and co-workers for trivia night and include statistics on hunger in Oklahoma. Ask participants to donate a canned food item to participate. Gather friends or co-workers for a karaoke contest. Charge spectators an admission fee to be donated to the Food Bank. Invite friends over for a movie night and collect cans at the door. Hold a Wii or X-Box tournament for a fee. Hold a friendly contest between departments or offices to collect the most food and funds. Entertain Collect donations at the door of an open mic night for budding comedians, musicians and poets. Organize an art show and collect canned food a the door. Host a concert and collect food or funds as admission. Host a dinner party and collect food or funds.

Ideas for Collecting Food Play with your food Collect food and build a can-structure. Create teams and let the public or your organization vote on their favorite design. Host an office potluck and charge admission of food or funds to be donated. Fill a large jar with a favorite candy and charge participants to guess how many pieces are inside. The winner gets the candy! Create teams between co-workers and see who can collect the most food or funds. Wear it Collect donations in exchange for a casual dress day or jeans pass. Hand out Food Bank bracelets for a small donation. Organize a fashion show and donate admission fees. Host a clothing swap and collect canned food as admission. Ideas for Collecting Food Match It Encourage upper management to match donations, can for can or dollar for dollar. Challenge a competing company or organization to match (or beat!) collected food and funds. Set a goal and ask friends or family to match what you collect. Get social Post updates to your personal Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or keep your group updated on results through your organization s Facebook page!
