UNI KNOCKS OFF IOWA STATE ON ROAD FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2003 Ames, Iowa, since taking over as head coach. It was the 75th dual between the the Panther victory. SCHWAB EARNS WIN OVER CMU IN 100TH DUAL AT UNI The UNI vs. Central Michigan dual came down to criteria for the Panthers 17-16 win. It marked the 100th dual in which head coach Doug Schwab coached for at UNI since taking over in 2010 for the 2011 season. PERFECT IN THE MAC WITH 23-17 WIN OVER NIU Jay Schwarm moved up to 133 pounds to became the fourth Panther to wrestle a dual a two different weights. Paden Moore s and Bryce Steiert s dual records are at 157 and 165 pounds. Drew Foster has competed at 184 and 197 pounds. PANTHERS PROVE DOUBLE TROUBLE IN FOR DUAL OPENERS UNI wrestling opened its dual season with two wins at home in the West Gym, The Panthers earned bonus points in seven matches against UNK, getting falls from Jay Schwarm at 125 pounds and Max Thomsen at 149 pounds. Taylor Lujan 14-3. After his major decision at 157 pounds against UNK, Paden Moore moved up to 165 pounds but wasn t able to hold off Koy Wilkinson, who won 8-5. After wrestling at 197 pounds earlier in the night, Foster fell back to the 184-pound weight class to earn his second set of bonus points. He earned more than three minutes of riding time and went on to win 13-5. UNI CROWNS 6 CHAMPIONS AT OPENING TOURNAMENT Walsh was the fall leader of the tournament with three falls total. The Panthers swept the 157-pound and 184-pound weight classes in the open division. Paden Moore and Seth Stetzel went 1-2 at 157 pounds, while Drew Foster, Jacob Holschlag, Chase Shedenhelm took the top three spots, respectively, at 184 pounds. FUTURE PANTHERS JACK SKUDLARCZYK of Austin Texas, is a two-time state champion for Westlake High School. In 2014, he won the state championships at 106 pounds in Class 5A and also won the Texas USA Wrestling Freestyle Tournament at 113 pounds. After moving up a weight in 2015, he took third at the championships in the 113-pounds weight class in Class 6A and returned to win his second freestyle championship at 113 pounds at the Texas USA Wrestling Tournament. He earned his second state title last year at 120 pounds in Class 6A. Last season, he lost just one match as a junior (44-1). Skudlarczyk followed it up with two more Texas USAW state championships in freestyle and Greco-Roman. He has placed three times at the USAW Nationals. In 2016, he was fourth in Junior Men s Greco-Roman. In 2015, he was sixth in Cadet Greco-Roman and eighth in Cadet Men s Freestyle. KEATON GEERTS of New Hampton, Iowa, is coming off a state championship at He also won the Junior Freestyle and Greco State championships at 132 pounds in 2016. He won the same freestyle tournament at 126 pounds in 2015. He placed second in the 2015 Greco Roman division in 2015. Holschlag took third at the 2016 Iowa High School State championships at 132 pounds in class 2A at 132 pounds. He was second at the state championships in 2015 at 113 pounds. The three-time state medalist started his prep career at 106 pounds. He moved up to 113 pounds and took sixth at the USA Wrestling / Cliff Keen Jr/ Cadet Folkstyle Tournament in 2014. He was fourth at the Iowa / USA Kids / Cadet Freestyle tourney. TRISTON LARA of Fort Dodge, Iowa, is a three-time state medalist at the Iowa high school championships. He is looking for his second state title after winning last year. He started his prep state title, wrestling at 126 pounds. At the 2014 Iowa/USA Kids/Cadets tournaments, he was sixth in freestyle and fourth in the Greco-Roman division. In 2015, he won the Greco-Roman division at the Iowa/USA Junior State tournament and took third in the freestyle division. He was second in both divisions in the 2016 Iowa/USA Junior Greco-Roman and Freestyle tourneys.

HEAD COACH DOUG SCHWAB - 7th season Doug Schwab is the Panthers ninth head coach in the program s illustrious history. He enters his seventh season at UNI in 2016-17 season. Five UNI student-athletes have earned six All-America honors under his leadership, including current wrestler, two-time All-American Dylan Peters. 2015-16: Dylan Peters earned his second All-American honor, taking sixth at 125 pounds. Blaize Cabell became the eighth to win a conference title at heavyweight since UNI joined the MAC championship in the 2012- four competed at the NCAA tournament. Illness prevented Cabell from competing at his third NCAA championship. The team tied for 25th overall. time since taking over at UNI. The last freshman to start was Joey Lazor in 2009-10. Bryce Steiert 2003 to qualify for the national championships. The Panthers were 10th in the nation among all Division I schools for attendance. 2014-15: Tough scheduling and Schwab s energy boosted attendance numbers for UNI wrestling in 2014-15. The Panthers posted the eighth-highest attendance numbers in the nation, up from ninth the year before. Schwab sent four wrestlers to the NCAA tourney, including two-time MAC champion Cooper Moore at 165 pounds. The team Dylan Peters (125 pounds) and Joey Lazor (141 pounds) placed sixth. undefeated. The Panthers went 10-0 in 1956 and 11-0 in 1950. UNI s opponents only scored 163 points in duals, the fewest allowed since 1974. The program saw its biggest jump in attendance in at least 14 seasons, posting the ninth highest numbers in the nation. Four home duals in the West Gym were sell-outs. was seventh at 184 pounds.
